Got that old tower hooked up and it runs my Phoenix sim but the video quality is awful.
It is an old computer. It's a Gateway E6100 with Windows XP Pro
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.60GHz 2.59 GHz 1.00 GB of RAM
Is there a graphics card upgrade I could use or anything else to get a better picture?
Thanks

you could try right click on the desk top and click properties then go to settings and see what the video is set on mine is set on 32 bit and 800 by 600 but you can increase that and it should give better quality video for you you might have to try a few setting's to get what you want

Gets glitchy and freezes.

you can't run a higher res than what your monitors capable of or your card for that matter.BTW what size of monitor are you useing? is it CRT or LCD? i looked in the guide's section at your flight sim comparison chart, it looks to me like your video card juuust meets minimum requirements. everything else looks ok though. so you probably won't beable to bump up the grafix to much at all. it looks to me like you have a 250W power supply, so i don't know if it could power a card upgrade, but i'll take a look for ya and see what i can come up with.
sorry i didn't catch you in time, my internet is on 2 speeds right now slow & stop

Here is the email I got..... 05/07/2009 03:59 PM Hello Ernie, Thanks for contacting NVIDIA Customer Care. Your Gateway pc supports AGP 8X and has a 250 watt power supply. support.gateway.com/s/PC/E6100_Series/2800518/2800518cl2.shtmlGiven that you have a older system I would suggest an AGP card based on the GeForce 7300GT. _____________________________________ That is why I ordered the GeForce 7300GT Have you heard of it?

Wouldn't hurt to bump your RAM up also, Ern.
BTW, there was a Blackeyed Pea banner on this thread. Must of been the Fergie referance ;D

I don't have that computer online so I can't do the scan. I don't know what the limit is on RAM. It's already been bumped from like 512mb to 1g.
Do you know what the limit is? This computer is not for online use.Just my sim and maybe a couple small games.

@ BTCAT, LOL jeeze man your killin me ;D that was good
@ mckrackin, yep that's the same card i posted a link to, and i hate to say it, but you don't have a big enough power supply to run it. your mother board will support 4 GIGs of DDR 400 Mhz memory. but like i said everything looks good but your PS. as far as a vid card upgrade goes

I have a smaller moniter but it is smaller than my lappys screen so that would be counter productive.
The people at NVIDIA said my power supply was enough so I'll try it.If not,I have their email to post with my request for a refund later,huh.lol...
I'm hoping it improves the pic a little. My lappy looks good on the 52" but it's a hassle to hook it up and unhook it all the time.
I'll keep y'all in on my progress.Computers confuse the crap outta me.lol...

then you could take it and hook it to the blue VGA hookup on the back of your laptop. just a suggestion. i couldn't find an Amp rating on that card, but your PS may put out enough Amp's to run it. kind of ify though. but yes keep us posted. i really hope it works for ya ;D
