Gawd...xp pro 64bit Seems like a while back. I guess I've been using vista now for 1 year. Also..get on msdn site and plug "Windows 7 " into the command box. They got free downloads for about a years worth before you have to purchase.

win 7, is just a bug fix to vista and a new look. they had to rename it cause of the stigma vista created. but the beta you are talking about will be killed soon, as the hear say is win 7 gold release will be in NOV.

personally i've never had a problem w/vista. i mean just some stupid little stuff here and there. i'm not sure what all the whining is about ;D. but i'll probably wait till the full version come out (for windows 7), and they have a service pack for it. the download available now is scheduled to be terminated in june or july of 2010

what i have learned from windows history is this. NEVER EVER touch their NEW OS untill SP2 is released. And if your a huge gamer, or PC Geek you will see there are lots of issues with Vista. 1 being how often it shuts down random programs for no reason, 2. major security issues it had prior to SP1, 3. BSOD when getting SP1 (not everyone had this). 4. Sometimes Vista would run hitch free on one system, while crashing constantly on a identical system. 5. The stupid 2million prompts when tring to install something, that only pc geeks could get rid of. 6. the fact that the OS was unstable out of the box. 7. Aeor Glass being the cool new thing that didnt even use DX10 but reverted to using DX9 to produce the pretty effects. 8. The fact you had to have DX10 and 9 on the same system caused issues. 9. Alot of older hardware and programs were not accepted by Vista making Upgrading your system a MUST DO (for a majority of people).
I could go on and on, but the biggest was their stupid 4 diffrent types of Vista all with diffrent prices and no pricing system upon Gold Release that allowed you to upgrade to the next path at a reduced cost.
Most users that report not having issues come in two catagories.
1. Non Power User / Non Gamer 2. Semi Power User with Newer System less then a year old upon Vista release.
Anyways while i might migrate to Windows 7 i will be sure not to touch it till Service Pack 2. This is a proven fact the amount of bugs and security holes in all windows releases were never minimized untill SP2 release. Heck even Win ME is concidered by MS as their Worst OS ever. Makes ya wonder about a company that does a upgrade to Win 98 and comes out with a crappy OS they dont even like, how well they can reprogram from scratch a new OS.
Up untill Vista all windows OSs were rebuilds of what they currently had, Vista was made from scratch, and it was not perfect and in the views of many security people and power users worse then XP. Thus i would advise against Win 7 at least untill SP2 is out, for the simple fact you are putting all your hopes on a OS thats still new, Vista is no where near as old as the original NT system that XP was based off of. It does not have years behind it yet, and i have learned that there is no Programer out there that can program Bug free or perfectly.
