I live in Michigan. Ive never gone fly fishing. All I really fish for are bluegills. There good eating. your right about that r/c, they are damn good eating. and pound for pound, probably one of the hardest fighting sunfish, w/the smallmouth bass right up in there. but on the other hand wild trout are pretty areobatic i've had them catch 6' of air. it's real hard to determine the hardest fighting fish, well... as far as freash water goes Dang 6 ft. of air is alot. I fish in my neighbors pond, I catch a bass every now and then but I throw them back because otherwise the blue gills will get over populated. My neighbor one time caught a 11 inch bluegill and another time caught a 24 inch bass out of the pond.

Don't get me started on the blue gill stories...Too late. ;D
When I used to live in Michigan my buddy and I used to fly fish for gills starting when the ice first went off. It was so cold ice would form in the guides. The pay off is that we'd catch a couple of basket fulls of 1lb. slabs and the fight they put up on a #7 rod was unbelieveable. Then we'd be up half the night filleting them. But what a feast later on. I like gills in beer batter. Yummy.
Oh, those muskies. I accidently hooked one fly fishing for smallies on Lake St. Clair. It was huge, a good 48" plus, and took off and stripped out all my line and almost all my backing, then turned around and came back at the boat. Instead of going under the boat, or turning away, he jumped, and did a cartwheel OVER THE BOAT. About half way over the fly fell out of his lip right at my feet. As he was going by in a ridiculously slow rotation he had a look in his eye that might have said, "WTF do you think you're doing buddy?" ;D
Happy landings

We lived in Clinton Township a northern suburb ot Detroit. We had a couple of boats on Lake St. Clair. One for fishing and one for cruising.
At one time Lake St. Clair was considered the highest production fresh water fishery in the US. You name it; from Perch to Sturgeon and everything in between. The Northeastern shore is Canada and the other parts US. I used to like to fish the Canada side for smallies and gills. We'd catch hunreds a day and keep a few for eats. One day I caught so many fish I turned to my buddy and said, "I didn't think I'd ever say this, but I think I want to quit for the day." He almost fell out of the boat from shock. ;D

LMAO, i've had that happen while crappie fishing, it almost becomes a pain in the a$$. one thing about the snake river i like so much is that you never really know what's on the end of your line. we have gotten pretty good about guessing what kind of fish we have on by the way they fight. some of my biggest catfish i have caught i was fishing for bass. my boss was down there fishing large mouth, and ended up w/a 57# blue cat. so you never know

I've never fished the snake, but a fishing buddy of mine went there religiously for 40 years for the trout. He said it was the best river fishing in the country.

Hey guys I just was watching this show that I think is called river monsters this guy caught a cat fish that weighed 161 pounds and was about the size of a person it was HUGE. It could easily take down a person. After catching the giant catfish it was returned safely back to the river, heck I would of had him for supper for the next month or two. They said that there are probably even bigger ones in the river.

Yeow, that's big for a catfish, isn't it? We don't have catfish up here. They do find rather large sturgeon, though.

I think the show is "Monster Quest" and that cat was indeed a monster.
They also had a show where a guy was supposedly attacked by a monster muskie. He had bite marks.
And back to gill stories; We fish and swim a lot in Lake Minnetonka here in MN. Catch a lot of gills. We have one bay that is a favorite for swimming and there are tons of gills there to. The only problem is that once the gills get into a feeding frenzy, like when I throw in a fly, you don't want to go swimming...They actually start biting you if you have a dark spot on your body they mistake for food. Ouch! We've nicknamed the place "Fish Bite Bay".

But speaking of monster quest they had one where they were looking for big foot and they had rc helicopters on it one was electric and the other was nitro. Id say they were 600 or 700 class helicopters they had cameras mounted on each one. I didnt pay that much attention to it because I wasnt interested in helicopters when I saw the episode.

GUYS, I FOUND IT. I found the episode where they have the rc helicopters. Heres the link: www.history.com/content/monsterquest/videos . Im watching it right now. Click on Season 2 full episodes, then Ohio Grassman then after the commercial click on part 1 about 11 minutes through they fly the nitro helicopter, and on part 2 about 5 minutes into it, and its also on the beginning of part 3 and thats the electric helicopter. I cant believe I found it.
