Ernie,,,,I think my next build,,,500 ESP,,,I'll use a seperate BEC but just 'Y' yoke the connector and run it off the main battery. Save weight and still be able to run the BEC without disconnecting the motor. The ESC voltage cutoff won't effect the BEC.
You think that heli looks big on the table? Get it up 10 feet above your head,,,,lol,,,,what a RUSH!! ;D

And Ernie,,,,if you are staying with the external BEC,,then you have to disconnect the red(power) wire from the ESCs throttle wire. Just pull the red wire pin from the connector,,,fold it back and tape it! Hey Elk,let's walk through the ESC/BEC thingie. Never used an external before so make sure I'm right... The BEC is plugged into the Battery/DATA channel on an AR7000.Right? Now the ESC is still plugged into the throttle.Correct? With the stock Align 100amp ESC,I do have to disconnect the red(power)wire? ? If it has no internal BEC then why give it a power wire in the first place? Can it be used without a BEC? I hate electronics Also,do you use the step down voltage regulator between the gyro and rudder servo? Why only that one servo?Because it's so busy? Anyone can chime in here ;D I just like the simpler machines like the 500 and smaller. I have a feeling I'll love the 600 though. I've been flying it on Phoenix and it just so crazy easy compared to the smaller helis. Oh!Oh!Oh!....my Scorpion 4025 shipped today ;D ;D ;D ;D The ESC is back ordered though.A week or two still

Right! Correct! No! The Align ESC has no BEC output so it won't interfere with the externel BEC. I suspect the red wire is there because it is a standard harness and some of their ESC s have BEC output. Now,,,when you put the Scorpion ESC on,,,,you will have to disconnect the red power wire. Be sure to leave the ground and signal wires alone for throttle inputs, unless you ditch the external and use ther scorp esc/bec. I never disconnected the red wire on my Align ESC,,,and it only burnt up once!! ;D No,,it's good to go!!! You HAVE to run a external BEC with that ESC! The step-down voltage reg is because some,,,mostly futuba,, high speed digital servos won't run on 6V. If you were to put those servos on the cyclic,,,you would need to step them all down too. Align servos,,,the 610 and 620 all operate on 6v,,,so,,stick that little step-down regulator in your pocket,,,,conversation piece ya know!! Did you fly it today? ;D

No flying today except the sim Oh,and a couple micro-packs in the MCX ;D This ESC/BEC set-up just seems so wrong to me.I have a battery the size of a brick running the motor and a battery the size of my thumb running everything else I'm thinking about connecting my servos and gyro to my Helicommand and putting it on my dog to see how long the battery lasts ;D

Sorry RC,couldn't resist ;D I am close!!!!Just need to adjust pitch and install the 4025 and it's ready. It would fly right now if I hadn't lost the leads for my charger.lol... I think I packed them in with the charger I sold with the 500. Since I have to wait,I might as well wait on the Scorpion stuff. Then again,I have everything I need to make some half-assed leads.Hmmmmm

I'm not sure.Depends on how warm everything gets. The battery tray is out in the video. With it in the ESC is enclosed. I'll experiment around some.

I forgot about the Helicommand,,,,,you know that you can take the BEC power from the battery port of the receiver and plug it into the Helicommand RC Module,,,,that way it's a more direct path to power the servos and the RC Module will still power the receiver. Did you ever get the PC software for the HC?

Nope.Didn't know that.Makes sense though.
No,no software.I don't use the HC enough to be worth it. I wasn't going to put it on but thought maybe it would be useful for some ariel photography later on.It does help a steady hover up about 200 ft ;D

Now admit it Ernie,,,,building that heli was way more fun than buying one of those RTFs,,,,,easy too! ;D

This is the third Align kit I've built in a year ;D I've built and trashed or sold dozens. This is just my first 600

Wasn't your 500 a RTF?,,,My mistake! Yea,,,,,,I'm working a deal on a 500 kit now,,,,,I'll use my 600 as a Caddilac,,,this 500 will be a HOT-ROD!! HK 3026-1400,,,15T pinion,,,,90 Amp scorpion ESC,,,futuba 9257s all around,,,GY401,,,,this one I'll learn to fly,,,no HC or CP II. Come winter I'll hop-up the 600 too,,,,if I can handle the 500 ok. I'm still pretty intimidated flying the 600 with the HC off, I'll take off with it off,,,,but get too nervous pretty quick and switch it on. More flights,,more time,,,,I'll get there!
