My first Trex 500 was professionaly built.I forgot that one I totalled it quick and built another. Your 500 plans sound great.I had a 3026 1400kv on my last one and it is a beast. Can I suggest a belt drive tail on your 500? When the blades hit the ground it strips all the gears in a TT system.Almost every time.I don't mean just hard hits either.Some soft rubs can do some real damage too. The belt is just as fast and a helluva lot more durable for learning. You can add a TT system for just $80 later when your confidense says to do so ;D

One more step closer to take off. Need the lead for my charger and I need to put Deans on the lipo. I may still wait on the Scorpion ESC. Elk,how much programming did the stock Align ESC need? Anywho...I had to cut some of the frame out to get the Scorpion 4025 in.Not the most perfect cut in the world but it'll do ;D This Scorpion is supposed to be a beast.Can't hardly wait to see it go...

Where do ya get more Scorpion stickers? I have two small ones and two large ones from buying two motors!! I want lots of small and large ones to put on my truck, my golf cart, end to end on my helis, etc.
Do they sell more stickers? I haven't found em if they do.
Now, I'm talking the original stickers. Not the aftermarket sticker sheets that I saw. Those are not the original stickers. Kent

I got a Scorpion sticker sheet from Innov8tive as well as the little Scorpion motor key chain and hat.

Ernie, I used the factory ESC settings,,,,haven't changed a thing. Each time you power it up the ESC will verify settings,,,,,,{{BEEP,,,,,BEEP<BEEP,,,,,BEEP,,,,,BEEP<BEEP,,,,,,BEEP<BEEP<BEEP}}}}
Those settings are; Brake disabled Mid-timing High cut-off voltage protection Helicopter soft-start Quick speed throttle response
You have to follow the book and change them using the Tx,,,I see no need to change it!

Ernie, Did you get advise on cutting the frame like you did,,,or did you wing-it? Did you have to open up both sides like that?,,,I'm assuming yes.
You really didn't cut out much,,,just connected a couple holes already there.

I was just winging it. There's no structural relevence to anything I cut. Yup cut both sides.
I should have everything I need for a flight this week sometime.
Like I said before,I have enough to fly right now but I want to wait at least a couple more days to get the right lead for the charger.I'm afraid it may jump an arc with the 4mm bullet I have now.It won't lock in tightly enough to suit me.
I will put a Deans on the Align ESC.I can sweat it back off when I get the Scorpion.I may even have a spare.Haven't checked through my junk.
At any rate...I will fly this weekend ;D

Airborne at last ;D When I first tried it I had a horrible wobble.My flybar paddles were a 1/16 of an inch out of center.WOW!!! I also removed the hard dampeners and replaced them with the sport flying ones. Next came the bobble I posted the question in the Align section at RR and got replies to low head speed.I removed the Scorpion and installed the stock 650L with a 15T and BAM!!!Perfect! Now we'll talk about the wag.lol.... I've used Align GP750 for a while now and keep the gain at 61%. Must be the long tail but I had to take my gain to 74%.Perfect!!! Hovered in the dark under a 60W soft white getting it dialed in for 7 minutes.The motor is barely warm and the ESC isn't even as warm as that.The battery was cold to the touch. I'll get some idle up time and maybe a little stick bangin in tomorrow and see how the heat issues are. I'm already Jonesing for another lipo ;D
