That Triton is the same animal, same functions, as the AC6,,,,when you use 'fast charge' alls that does is set the terminal amps at 1/5th the set amps instead of the normal 1/10th. It just 'tops-off' the battery a little quicker. Still takes over 1 1/2 hours to charge the 5000 6s.

I have the Thunder AC6 charger,,,,max 5 amps,,,,it takes about 100 minutes to charge the 5000 6S. Hey Elk, if you look closely when you charge the 6s battery, the charger will not go over 2 amps (maybe 2.2 sometimes). It's a 50 watt charger. You are charging those 5 amp batteries at way less than 1/2 C!!! Also, you should not use AC when charging 6s! These get WAY too hot! Have you noticed that you can hardly touch the charger and the LCD turns purple? ? There is a power supply inside the case in it's own plastic case with no air circulation. This thing gets boiling hot. You really should use only DC input for 6s. These are awesome for 3s, though. What you really need is a 150 watt minimum charger for your monster batteries. Your charge times will go WAY down then. Definitely less than half the time, maybe 1/3 the time. I ordered a Turnigy 150 watt capable of 8s from hobbycity a couple of weeks ago. It has some good writeups and is $75 about. It's dc input only, though, which is fine with me. I can do a writeup about it if anyone is interested. I am running 3300ma 6s on my 500. I love the Thunder AC6 for all the other charging needs. The 6s just needs something bigger. The AC6 should never have been allowed to support 6s, IMO. =================== 5000ma 6s packs: 1 C = 5 amps. 5 amps at 25 volts is 125 watts. Some batteries can be charged at higher C ratings, but a 150 watt charger will allow a 1C charge rate of a 5000ma 6s battery. =================== Take care, Kent

Thanks for that info Kent,,,,,yea,,the charger gets really hot charging the 5000 6s on AC, I didn't realize that DC would make any difference. I did notice that that it was only pushing 2.2amps when I had it set to 5 amps. I'm getting a e-station BC6-10,,,,it's 200 watts and can handle the 5000 at a 2C rate(10 amps). I also have a 30 amp power supply coming,,,that should boost both the AC6 and the BC6-10. I'll have six 6-cells batteries to deal with shortly,,,3 - 5000mAhs and 2 - 2700 mAhs,and,,I just ordered a 2650mAh 30C 6S zippy flightmax for $55,,,,we'll see how that holds up!
Do those 3300s really fit under the canopy of that 500? I don't think the Align canopy will fit. I want to keep weight way down thou,,,my 500 will be a hot-rod, 3D machine.
Thats what I like about this BB,,,,somebody always has the answers!!Thx Kent!!

Heh! The 3300 Zippy in my 500 is amazing. There is no performance difference from this to the dual 2200 3s that I was running, other than extended flight times, well, at least with the Scorpion motor. The Align motor works OK, but that thing gets REALLY HOT!
I have the timer set to 8.5 minutes!!!

Never go 600 if you can go 500.
Seriously.
600 and bigger should be nitro. My 600 is unbelievably cumbersome compared to the 500.

Ahhhh----soooo!! I'm going to have my hands full with the 500, then!!! I better stock up on spare parts!! ;D You'll love the 500.It's as stable as the 600 but way more nimble. I can't hardly do any FFF in my yard with the 600 because the second it starts to get some speed,I'm out of room and have to turn around. With the 500,I could at least buzz around a little and even stay low. The 600 has to be above the tree tops to avoid crashing into something.
