8 1/2 minutes on the 3300 zippy?? Thats great! I was worried about the 2700 s I'll be using,,,should get at least 6 minutes on them,,,thats cool with me! 6 1/2 minutes is all I can get on my 600 with the 5000mAh,,and thats about all I can handle,,,LOL! My 2500mAh Outrage ran about 7 minutes in idle up. What C rating? My 2700s will be 30C,,I'm assuming that makes a differenc too. While I have you Ernie,,,wait,,,,I'll start a new thread in advanced so others might want to know also!! Autorotation?

Ahhhh----soooo!! I'm going to have my hands full with the 500, then!!! I better stock up on spare parts!! ;D You'll love the 500.It's as stable as the 600 but way more nimble. I can't hardly do any FFF in my yard with the 600 because the second it starts to get some speed,I'm out of room and have to turn around. With the 500,I could at least buzz around a little and even stay low. The 600 has to be above the tree tops to avoid crashing into something. Yea,,,I didn't mention that before,,but you need a lot of room for the 600. In my video, I'm standing in the middle of an 80 acre hay field. But it is very impressive when it comes screaming by. I'm looking forward to the 500,,,,I hope it will help me with orientation better. The 600,,,at a distance,,,I'm having huge problems with orientation,,,it's a little better with the yellow stock canopy compared to the green Moat-Gator canopy. I'm going to put a florecent yellow landing gear struts on the 500,,,and a bright red canopy,,,,this canopy for $25; www.helidirect.com/fusuno-fiberglass-canopy-trex-500-design-new-p-6259.hdxI may even get some bright tail blades!

I wonder if the 600 feeling that way could be setup?
I would think that the Scorpion and a fast headspeed might wake that thing up?
But I have read that quite a number of folks really do prefer the 500 size, as it's robust, cheap, stable and very nimble. I've never flown anything bigger, but I love my 500. It can way out climb the 450, and they both have Scorpion motors!
I was looking into the 600, but I think I'll wait now, until I hear more. Kent

Yea,,,,maybe Ernie is right,,,,the 600 needs a nitro. I never had a 500 to compare,,,but I'm still in total awe of the 600. I think Ernie might agree,,,the 600 is way more stable and easier to fly,,,just not 'nimble' enough. Get the scorpion on it,,,that should make a huge difference.
I've got parts coming,,the kit on the way,,,I'll get started on my 500 late next week I hope. I got the 500 ESP kit from the same guy I got the 600 ESP,,,I got a great deal,,,but it's coming from HK.

Don't get me wrong.Every pack I fly,the 600 is growing on me. I just can't get it to go as fast as the 500 did in my yard. It is fast though. It just needs room to stretch its legs.

Main gear is 170T,,,I'm running the 15T on it. I assume the 15T Aligh pinion won't work on the scorp? The 650L is running pretty hot,,,it gets around 135 degrees each flight no matter how agressive I fly it. I haven't run it straight 100% yet,,that will be my next test,,,I'm looking at nothing but rain the next few days,,,I'm bummed! Yea,,,the 16T is what you need on the 1100kv scorp, that will put you within 90 rpms of the 1220kv with the 15T. Thanks Elk. No the stock pinion is for a 6mm shaft and the Scorp has a 5mm shaft. If you run across any 16 or 17 tooth pinions for 5mm shaft with MOD 7 teeth please let me know. I know you have your pinions coming, but this is an alternative to your dilemma. At least you wouldn't have to go to Australia for parts. ;D www.innov8tivedesigns.com/product_info.php?products_id=530

Hmmm.Wish I'd seen that before spending $50 on 5mm pinions. Thanks though.I'll definately go that route on the next build.

Welp, the next thing I'm trying is batteries. I just ordered 2 2800mAh 30C 3S packs. That'll give me 5600mAh of capacity and still maintain the 30C safe discharge rate.
I have my old 3S charger from xheli I'll try.Wanna see how long it takes for 2800mAh.It takes almost 2 hours for 1800mAh. I also ordered a Turnigy Accucell 6 charger.I'll use it for the 2800's mostly and the old 3S charger for my 2S RX battery.
I hope all this works out.
My next step is a 12S ESC so I can run two 4S packs.
More to follow....

Thats a pretty weak charger Ernie,,,basic same animal as my thunder ac6,,,,will take most near 2 hours for a 6s 5000 battery. The 3s 2800s will be over an hour and running two of them,,you won't gain anything. But,,,multiple chargers are the way to go,,,and that one is priced nicely.

I reallize it's a small charger and the long charge time won't matter. It's just practice for my next step which will be running two 4S packs.
I also bought a GT-Twins - Twin pack charge lead so I can charge the two 3S's together as a 6S.
One reason for the two packs is because I now have a 5600mAh 30C 6S for under $50 ;D

By the way, when I finally go 8S I'll probably have four chargers which will be the same as having two since I'll be running two packs at a time.Uuhhg

Guys, I just received a Turnigy Accucel 8150, 150 watts and good for up to 8s. It's a little anemic for 8s, but is perfect for my 3,300ma 6s and smaller.
It cost $79, if I remember right.
I also got a couple of Turnigy 2650ma 6s for $35 each!! They are 20-30C. Kent
