Ok, I wanted to try and fit a longer blade on the G2, just to see what would fit, and see if it flies better or not. Also because I found a set of night blades and want them but they dont come in 288... I ordered a set of 315mm wood blades, and some kind of plastic sport tail blades for 450 helis.... I got wood blades cause of the cost. I didnt want to pay $20+ for blades that I cant use or destroy, and got some extra tail blades incase the blades hit each other...
Now we wait for the stuff to get here........

I know I will be keeping a close eye on this one to see the outcome.

A slightly bigger blade should work, however, you need to make sure that the blade mounting hole fits properly into the Walkera #36/Exceed Raptor G2 as well as the blade thickness miht be thicker on the bigger heli blades so the blade grip mount might be a tight fit. Please, let us know how it works out.

I've never used anything but the stock blades on my G2, which is probably a mistake since they flex so much. One of these days I'll pick up a CF set though I'm not so sure I'll start with a larger diameter.
Happy landings

19k, I bought some plastic blades for my 450 once. They were super cheap, and behaved like that. Those made the heli feel like it was made of rubber.
I would highly recommend trying a set of stiff blades at least once. I don't know how your heli responds to these, though.
It's worth a try!
I love it, how you are experimenting with this stuff, Mighty! Please report what you find out! Kent

Kent, "like rubber" that's a good description. Since I got my 450 BH back with the CF blades the G2 is like flying a nerf ball. Got to get those CF blades for the G2 and a metal head. ;D
Happy landings

Ok Im done with the pics and install. Here are some photos and measurements I came up with. [a href=" "] [/a] Tail blade... You can see its just a little larger.. [a href=" "] [/a] [a href=" "] [/a] [a href=" "] [/a] [a href=" "] [/a] You can see they are almost the same thickness. [a href=" "] [/a] I put the new blade on to see the difference. [a href=" "] [/a] I spun the blades to get them as close as possible to the tail blade... you can see thats as close as they will come. [a href=" "] [/a] What it looks like on the heli Here are some measurements I did Stock blade (288mm) Wooden (315mm) weight 8oz or 28g weight 6oz or 18g 4.22mm thick 4.31mm thick 31.57 wide 31.40mm wide I did a quick CG on the 315s and they are almost dead center and both weigh the same. So tracking shouldn't be a problem. Flight test vid coming soon. Hopefully before the weekend.

Ok flew a whole battery. A few things I did notice....... 1) I think Cause the blades are lighter, it was a little more reactive. Took about 2 min to get use to the feel. 2) Needs more head speed to get lift. I think due to the weight. 3) WORKED GREAT..... I just need to track the blades, they were off about 1/2 inch....I couldnt get a vid because it was too dark...

Yea... thats just what it felt like. Im not sure if thats whats really going on. It did need more head speed tho. Usually when im at 50% the helli will lift. with the wooden its about 55-65% to get it to lift.

I think I understand. They are longer and offer more resistance. This needs more throttle. Not really more headspeed just more juice to get what you're used to. That resistance is from more blade surface. The extra surface gives faster performance.

OK took longer then I thought, but its done...... Replaced the stock 288 blades for wood 315. Also replaced the tail servo with an Esky digital servo 8g..... Both work perfect so far. Here are some pics. [a href=" "] [/a] [a href=" "] [/a] [a href=" "] [/a] Cut away some of the canopy.... looked like it might be in the way... The vids are in the video section.
