Must be the month for tail feathering screws coming loose. I had just landed the BH with the sonix tail and, BANG, one blade and holder came flying off. Glad it happened on the ground. Funny thing was, I had just checked every screw on the heli... except that one. Happy landings It's always the one left unchecked.lol... The screw broke off in mine.I still can't get it out.

On the sonix tail you might never guess that screw was backing out because the ball bearing on the slider mechanisim will hold the blade holder in place until the screw finally comes out. Surprise. I busted that screw on the original tail with a minor tail strike. I think they mix silly putty with the steel they use over in china. ;D Happy landings

Well,I wanted to go all out but I just don't have any paypal funds. Dusted off a credit card and went with the minimum.
Ordered the front TT drive gears. One set. Tail blade pitch assembly.One. Tail blade holder assembly with plastic grips.One.
After a second and closer look,I see the tail boom must have caught some shrapnel.A pin hole in it.Not in the carrier bearing area and the boom is straight but why take chances?
So a new tail boom too.
This is the minimum it takes to get flying. At least it is all Align stuff. I'm going to have to use the stock tail blades for a while too. They are probably just as good as Align but not as pretty. They are longer with an almost identicle surface area.
Even at the bare minimum it is almost $60 so.....
Luckily I have the spare main blades that Helihobby sent for the scuffed ones.
Hopefully airborne by Wednesday.

Happy landings

I've moved my linkages back to the shortest hole in the servo horns and toned my servos limits down quite a bit.
This heli needs to be more docile til I get the bugs out.
My last Trex 500 had the links in the short holes and servos limited to 75% and it flew great.Fast too.

That's where I'm running my 500 linkages. This also is where the links are straight up and down at mid stick.
There is more than enough throw here to get +/- 13 collective and +/- 9 cyclic. You can get more than that even. I like the better leverage there, too. Kent

I don't know the difference but my DS510's would clear the link ball and servo case in the short holes but the DS520's won't. The ball drags on the case and if it catches just right will bind up. I had to move the balls to the outside of the horn.No biggie I guess. Now with a full throw at 150% servo will clear top and bottom. This is with 13 degrees pitch both ways. Full left at full negative... Full right at full positive... At 5 degrees positve(hover)... This busted tail has given me time to really start learning my radio and other little details.

That's cool, Mckrackin!
I think though that your servos are traveling farther than mine do. Or, it looks like they are. But that's the link I think that mine are using. The one that makes the links parallel at half stick.
Your battery looks like mine! The 3300 that I had in the ES600 when I crashed is crumpled. It still works fine! I flew it in the 500 tonight!
But it is a little scary when they look crumpled up! I have a 3s 2200 for the 450 that has been crumpled up for months! It also still works great!

That battery has never been crashed. I dropped it the day I got it.While removing it from the package.lol...The crack in the shrink wrap is spreading.

Mine handles fine with the links at the outter servo holes. I put the 520s on the cyclic,,,,set the head for +/-12,,,cyclic throws at 9* ail and 10* elev,,,,put +10% on the ail expo,,this thing is GREAT!!! I tried some ail tic/tocs today and it is way quicker than I am,,,LOL,,,I love it. Just have to get my timing down.
This is working out great,,,,I fly the 600 w/HC and try things,,,then grab the 500 and try them. I did a few piro-flip 'attempts' today with the 600,,,,not ready to try them on the 500 yet ;D. I can do the piro-flip,,,,but OMG,,,trying to get it to stay in one place is TOUGH. It's all collective management,,I know this,,,,but wow,,,I can barely stay inside a football field doing a piro-flip,,LOL.
Ernie has taken me over to the 'dark-side' of the force,,,,,,,,the 500 force,,,,I love this heli. I still love flying the 600 with the HC,,,,,having both to fly back-to-back is just plain FUN FUN FUN!! ;D
I'm doing some good inverted FFF with the 600 too,,,,it's a great learning tool to help me with the 500.
Fun stuff!!

Cool Elk.You're passing me up fast. Truth is,I haven't flown maybe three packs in about two months.
The 500 is definately my favorite heli ever.
I'm just slowing mine down a bit until I get all the damn Flasher bugs worked out. The rotor head is the only Flasher part left and it is going to be very short lived.

I just mentioned in another forum probably the wierdest damage ever inflicted on my heli.Any of them. A bolt broke recently and allowed a tail blade grip to fly off. Hairy landing:eek: Anywho,I got an email that my parts had shipped today so I started tearing my tail boom apart. There is a small hole in the boom and a corresponding ding in the main blade directly above the hole in the boom. The boom also rattled. I pulled the tail gear and lo and behold...a piece of the linkage from the blade grip was inside the boom.Wow!!! Anyone have any wierd damage on their helis? The small piece was inside of the boom. I found the blade and grip today by luck:D Hole in the boom... Ding in blade... Crazy stuff huh?

Mckrackin, me thinks you were turning 5 million rpm with your 500. Things don't normally leave their own habitat at a few thousand miles per hour and enter a new tubular domain on their own. When you mentioned broken bolts!, that said to me, Humm!
You can borrow my tach, if you like. Kent

It should be about 3050 RPM but since I got the Turnigy packs it just sounds waaaaay faster I'll get it to hold together sooner or later
