Here it is,,,,the very first flight attempt on my T-Rex 250 SE. It took me a few seconds to get it under control. I got it out of ground effect quickly,,good thing. The motor sounds rough,,,that was simply the gear mesh,,,it is very touchy to get right. And,,,I REALLY needed some expo, it responds very quickly. As far as trims,,,,,it was very close,,,but I didn't take the time to play with it,,,this first flight was just to see what I had so I know what needs tweeking. But I can tell,,,this heli has all the power and response needed,,and then some! The tail was perfect!
I set my aileron and elevator expo at +40. I adjusted the gear mesh,,,which I won't know if it's alright until I fly it again. The gear mesh sounded fine when I spooled it up without blades the first time. BUT,,,it's snowing now so it will have to wait for anymore flying. I wanted to get the very first flight on video,,,here it is;

Nice going Randy, she looks good! I got mine airborne in the kitchen today because it's raining outside. Boy oh boy is it ever sensitive! I have 30% expo and it's still like a squirrel on PCP! I am going to add more. And Randy, thanks for the advice on the GP750. It holds the tail solid with no drift at all. As soon as the weather clears I will post the video of the first proper maiden flight. Supposed to rain until friggin Thursday though!!!!!!!!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!
By the way, just a side note on the batteries I am using. They are 980mah so they are quite large, I had to make new canopy holes to make room. And I finally got the skid end caps in. Just hold the rounded end tightly with needle nose pliers and force them in! Mine were all super hard to get in but I got them in the end.

Colin,,,,the canopy is super tight on the 850mAh battery too. I'm looking at a Fusuno Canopy,,they make them over-sized for the 250 too. I have the Fusuno 500 EX canopy,,very nice,,,,I assume the 250 will be too!

Here's a lesson in patience. It's been rainy/snowy/windy here and I was waiting for a break in the weather to take the 250 outside for it's maiden flight. I waited and waited and finally there was a break in the clouds so outside we went. The wind was gusting round the side of the house but I was determined to get it airborne today! Everything was going fine until one of the servo wires managed to come loose and got caught in the belt drive gear and it came down tail-first. The irony is that this might not have happened if I'd have waited because I was just about to move the wiring around while I waited for the weather to clear. The servo wire is ok, just a little worn on one side. Damage report.......one screw sheared off from the vertical tail fin. THAT'S IT.

Colin At the 1:16/1:17 mark the heli took a quick turn clockwise. Did you do that or what Dave

That's a cool one too Randy ;D
And Dave, when it spun was when the servo wire got caught in the belt drive gear, which caused the crash. Totally my fault, and lesson leaned. Thankfully I wasn't very high up or it could have been much worse. Pretty durable little heli, I gotta say.

Randy, I just looked at that canopy again that you're getting...once you put it on, you can call your heli "Rudolph" ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Oh wow,,,,I just threw mine idle-up and flipped it,,,LOL. It wasn't as quick on the flip as I was expecting. What I also wasn't expecting was the negative pitch thrust,,,LOL,,it doesn't take much negative pitch to send it 30 feet up. I gathered it up but my two boys got stuck about 4 inches above my navel so I had to set it down,,,LOL. I had wanted to roll it too,,,,but I have to go find my boys first,,LOL
30 feet doesn't sound like much,,,but this little bugger is small,,,it's hard to see, especially when there are trees in the background.
The CF blades make a huge difference too. It really does fly just like my 500 ESP just smaller and relatively quicker. This is going to take some getting used to,,,but I love it!!
