Well it looked too water trap good to pass up so I went and got this T-REX 450SE. It comes with motor, ESC, BEC, and Battery. Haven't got the servos and gyro yet but will likely get the Telebee gyro and some Towerpro servos for the meantime then upgrade servos when I get better and money allows. May have to bite the bullet and get a cheap 2.4GHZ rx/tx from "you know who" and then maybe a DX6 system later down the line. Or I could just go a cheap 72MHz just to get it up and practicing with. Looks like a really nice addition to fill the void of crap I had to send back to "them who we do not name" ;D Check it out. These guys are really awesome and cheap quick shipping too. Get yourselves one!! www.ka-planes.com/inc/sdetail/7993P.S. Love the water trap substitution for d a m n ;D

That is an excellent builders kit.The 80% stuff is cool if you haven't built much.
I'm not speaking to you kiwi but every reader.
The 80% has all the small components already assembled. Just put on the tail boom, slip in the main gear, attach some push pulls, and drop in the main rotor assembly. There are some details like skids and such but that will be a fun kit.
Post many pix if at all possible. ;D

Yeah it should be fun, will give me a good project over the next little while. I worked out that I can have this thing up and flying for as little as another $140 with ok parts also. Then I can be flying a T-REX for under $400. This kit looked too good to pass up, the cheapest I have found so far as it had $130 off. Now all thats left to do is wait....
I plan to post pics of the build, but dont quite know how to get them posted on here. Could someone with experience perhaps make a thread about how to post pics as there seem to be a few of us picture-challenged people here ;D. Thanks.

Ka-Planes is a good old fashioned hobby shop with an internet store. Mike Sr. & Jr. are always ready to help.
Nice bird kiwi. This one is going to workout for you. Please don't waste money on a cheap 2.4. You've gone this far. Get a Dx6i.
Happy landings

Would love to get a DX6i soon, but will be a little down the line me thinks. I actually found a combo with the AR6200 for $169 so not too bad. Then I can get a telebee gyro for $55 and towerpro servos and I will be away laughing. Will probably get a better servo for the tail too though for quicker response. Will keep you all posted on how this shapes up. Now just need to convince the wife to let me get the DX6...

I went and got this tail servo from RC Super Sales, seemed like a nice fast tail servo recommended for use with the T-REX 450. Has a speed of 0.09 so super fast!! store.rcsupersales.net/servlet/-strse-4575/ULTRA-FAST-0.09sec-fdsh-60-INO-dsh-LAB/Detail?sfs=67b0be4fThe price was pretty good too. I ended up getting a Telebee gyro for $44, great price, 3x Towerpro servos for the head at $8.99 (a little more than others but still good), and some Ball link pliers. If you buy $95 or more you get free shipping. Worked out that I got the pliers for $4 pretty much as I didn't have to pay shipping!! Just the tx and rx now and I have myself one mean machine!! ;D

Pooh pooh! KA Planes went out of stock and now the price is back to $380. That definatley seemed to be a great deal.
I just received my DX 7 today very nice.
I will just have to go with the CNC helicopter clone I was looking at originally I guess. About the same price but not with as many accessories.
Trevor.
