I once had a slight blade scrape using some foamies. They have a wooden core like a dowel rod or an ARROW Anywho,I looked it over and saw no damage. I spun it up and was taking off when POW the blade broke where the bolt goes through it. Of all the omnidirectional paths the flying blade could take,of course,it hit me in the shin. It just peeled the skin away and knocked my leg out from under me.I thought it was broken(my leg). Like you guys mentioned. For a while I was scared to take off for fear it would happen again at eye or throat level. I'm sorry if this is a repeated post.I remember typing it but I think it's on RC disgust.

I love flying (or at least trying) but every time I have to hammer into my head about the battery and carrying the heli with the TX. Got to respect even the little ones. You got me thinking when you wrote about a possible throat strike. That would ruin your day and the guy's day that had to clean up after it. Scary stuff!

Mckrackin, that's really a shame to hear! Man after hearing that, I was really lucky about the trajectory of these blades. I don't know about foamies, but it sounds like a foam blade that has the hard shaft going through it?
And here I was out hovering again at eye level some of the time with the fixed Exi today.
But the Exi is again rock stable now. It's something that I will remember, how that thing felt as the head was coming loose. It's impossible to explain the handling precisely. It was touchy, but more like the way the HBFP feels in a little wind! Just goofy! Kent

I wonder how far one of the blades would fly if it came off in flight. Just wondering what a safe distance might be.
Might have to start wearing my motor cycle helmet and some shin guards when I start with the EXI.

I've lost a few and they will only "Fly" about 15 or 20 feet and even a just a few they've lost most of the speed.
Unfortunately, the one time I mentioned here,I was about 24 inches away and got most of the inertia.

That's the truth, 19k!! And to think, I'm usually hovering from waist to eye level most of the time! A little Spooky. Kent Well, I have decided to keep mine at waist level. After all, ever since my divorce I've had to wear a prosthetic anyway ;D ;D ;D
