I've built out of Depron before, but this F-22 is going to be my first EPP Foamie. It should go well. Kent and BT have given all the build tips so all I need to do is follow the plan and heed the advice. Today I plan on cutting the templates. I'm still waiting on some of the Carbon. I've got the strips for the wings, it's the 3 & 5mm tubes I'm waiting for. I haven't decided on a color scheme yet. Will I take the BT approach and use what's left in old cans or use a precise paint scheme like Kent? The EPP is white and I've got Navy Blue and Red, in some volume, and some "shiny" aluminum tape. That could be interesting. ;D

You know, I've never put any photos up on a forum, but I think I will. Now I need to get my camera back from my daughter. This may take awhile. It's lightning and thundering like crazy. My wife just said, "Isn't this April weather?" I said, "This is Minnesota. You don't have NORMAL weather here." ;D

My already near dormant sense of urgency to build a belly lander isn'tbeing helped at all by the soggy weather we're having. Never got around to cutting the templates yesterday, so I'll do it today. CF tubing still isn't in. I guess I'll start cutting the foam though...Maybe Edit: I not only cut the templates, I cut most of the foam and CA'd the fuse together with the 3mm Grayson stuck in the foam order by mistake or just because they're good guys. Shucks, I'm out of CA. The Enticement build used more CA than I thought it would. Now I've got to wait 'til Tues to swing by HZ for a second to pick up some CA and hopefully the rest of the tubing. In the meantime I'm going to paint the fuse and glue the CF strips to the wing, hinge the elevons and paint all of that.

Talking about Grayson, they finally shipped today (Friday) after two emails from me wondering what the status of the order was. I ordered and paid for it last Sunday. /end rant.

Hey Sol, what did you order? Some EPP and their power system, or are you going to use the HC power? I'm building a new F22 for the Grayson motor, and I have modded the elevons a little... The MSR is just a little jealous! Attachments:

They're usually pretty quick on shipping. That's one reason I like them. Must be the Spring Building Frenzy that's got them a little behind. Kent, I like those Grayson mods. Are you doing anything special for the motor mount location or construction? I ordered a mount from Grayson. Nice; round and thick. I think your mSR has kilovolt envy. ;D

I haven't thought much about the motor mount yet. I'll probably just use a plywood mount like I did with the HC motor. I'm interested to see how the roll rate is with the elevon mod. It's not a very big change, but it does move part of the fuselage onto the elevon for what RCPowers calls a type of vectored thrust. I hope it helps. Attachments:

I just dicovered my 6X4 pusher prop is missing. A certain wiley cat by the name of Chester is the chief suspect. I've called all over town and nobody seems to have one and Grayson is out. Anybody with a spare one please PM me. In the meantime I will continue the search and interrogation of the chief suspect. I don't expect him to crack though. He's a tough one. ;D

The MSR is just a little jealous! I just ordered EPP and some CF strips from Grayson. I'll use a HC motor of some kind. I got 3 different ones to see what works best. I already have a good selection of LiPo's, ESC's and HXT900's. I was going to build the 32" version but wasn't sure of the necessary EPP sheet size and how many I'd need, so thought on a 28", but don't have the software to resize the plans. So, going with the masses...24". Probably a better idea anyway, being a first try. Did you see the aileron mod on RCGroups for the F22?

The prop thieving perp refused to confess so I made a trip to hub hobby this AM and picked up another prop. I needed the regular 6X4 not the pusher. I had forgotten the pusher was one I used on a brushed motor. So, somehow the thief has carried off 2 props. I'm putting in a surveillance camera over my work area. ;D I also picked up the CF I need to finish this plane along with some other miscellaneous things. Like a DA I forgot to buy the CA I needed so the rest of this build might end up with more Gorilla Glue than I planned.

I picked up my CA yesterday so I'm going to try and finish the build over the next few days. I think this thing is going to be a lot of fun with the Grayson V2 power.

Turnigy also makes the same motors. I'm flying the 1500 on my F22 with an 8:4 prop. I'm flying the 1300 on my Yak also with an 8:4. A 500ma 3s battery actually flies great with either, but I mostly fly a 1000ma 3s on the F22, as it likes full throttle! I hope to have my second Grayson powered F22 done by this weekend. YES, I did see the aileron mod on the other forum. That looks VERY interesting. If the elevon mod I did is not enough to improve the roll rate, I'll do that mod. Ailerons setup like that would also act like spoilerons in high alpha, so it sure sounds like a great mod to do anyway! Kent

Well, I actually did make some progress today. Burnt the slot for the 5MM tubing and GG'd that in and finished painting the red portions which include the fuse, skids and vert stabs.
Next step is to paint the wings (Navy blue top and sky blue bottom) and then I'll install the servos for the elevons.
The only thing helping the build is the 25 + winds. Tomorrow is supposed to drop back down to 5-10. 5-10 is definitely bad for building. ;D
