Well posted my final setting notes about pitch and a video of the maiden flight. It's back on the last post I saved for my build on this thread. This was about 5 mins into the battery and going well!! So stoked with this heli now that its going. Just need to make some final trimming adjustments as it has a little bit of wandering in the nose, but otherwise a sweet flying machine!

Congrats on getting her flying!
That is an interesting pitch setup. It really sounds like it keeps the headspeed really low, too, which will make the heli much more docile. It looks really smooth in the video!
I have setup my Exi's to be more like they would be for 3D, as I eventually want to do some of that. I figured if I set it up like that, I could get used to it faster. I'm hovering at around 2/3-3/4 throttle. It is VERY touchy with the T450CF.
If you listen to yours and then listen to the vid of my T450, there is a huge difference in headspeed AND touchyness!
I may set up my Exi 450SE to be more like yours. That way, I can have one to put around with and also a Ferrari!
Your heli sure turned out nice!
Best, Kent

Yeah it is definitely a lot more docile and lower headspeed, but thats how I want it at the moment to avoid any unwanted accidents! I have it set up though so if I want to go to a more aggresive setting, all I need to do is center my servo and then move the arms down one place on the servos (the ratcheted bits where the arm attaches) and then I go to: 0 stick = -7 25% stick = -4 50% stick = +0.5 75% stick = +4 100% stick = +7 That will give a better setting for more aggressive flying while still being a little more docile, but with higher headspeed. I'm keeping it as is for a while until my skill grows. May be there a while...

That sounds good.My pitch sitting idle is -6. I have plenty of oomph to get some good 3D ;D Your heli looks solid too by the way

Well, after seeing the guy at my LHS and finding a bearing in the head being the issue with blade pitch I thought I was ready to fly. Turns out I also had issues with tail spin, but that has been sorted thanks to playing with reversal switches and settings, and also overcoming my own stupidity, lets leave it at that...Anyway, I am uploading the vid of its maiden flight and waiting on You-tube to process it and it will be up shortly. It is a really sweet flying heli now that it goes. Blade tracking is good as far as I can see so far and the CF blades make a nice smooth sound. A point of interest to add is the pitch curve I used and pitch settings as given by the guy at my LHS for noobs as follows: 0 stick = -2 25% stick = +2 50% stick = +6 75% stick = +8 100% stick = +11 Pitch Curve: (On the DX6i) L = 40 2 = 45 3 = 50 4 = 75 H = 100 I know this may sound a little strange from what people usually do but it makes sense to me now. If you have it going from a negative or 0 pitch at 50% stick it creates a sudden desire for the heli to leap up once headspeed is high. Going positive earlier makes a much smoother upward transition and also means that when you chop the stick down when nervous, the heli won't pull itself into the ground when you go negative on the pitch. Finless Bob's vid sets it up for 3D flight, but for most people here building them, they are not going for hardcore 3D flight so this makes more sense. I am lifting off at 50% and all the flying in the video is done at 55-58% max so it works very well. Anyway, vid will be up soon, I know, about time isn't it!!! Here's the video, enjoy: Nice to see it together!!! Mine should be here next week! Mike
