It should be at least as fast as my test model, which isn't screaming fast, but fast enough for me considering what it represents. ;D
The aerobatic capabilites are somewhat limited by the huge wing. Maybe at some point I'll clip the wing. Maybe not. ;D

OK, I've kicked myself in the arse, that's harder than it used to be, and I'm making some progress... I'm using a combination of paint, decals and tape to produce the graphics. The guys over at BanDgraphix.com are supplying the graphics. Nice Guys. Fair prices. They have a nice selection of "do it yourself" design programs. Can't wait to stick that big 4 blader on this baby. ;D

That looks GOOD! I might have to swing one of those Corsairs one of these days. Is the scale close to the P-51?
Speaking of P-51s, that canopy sure looks familiar!

Thanks Kent. I think it's going to be pretty neat when finished.
Yep, that's a P-51 canopy. Not exactly right, but close enough for a foam plane.
On the F2G they started out with a P47 canopy and then switched to a special design, just for the F2G, prior to putting them in service.
The PKZ P-51 is smaller than the Corsair, like the full size planes, and the scale is slightly different. It's not something I think you'd object to when you have them side by side.
I definitely think you'd like the Corsair in your hangar. It flies and lands beautifully. It looks as good on the ground as it does in the air. It's a different flying experience than the P-51, so that adds to its appeal.

It's been rainy and windy, so I've been working on the Super Corsair. One big mod is lenghtening the cowling and adding the air scoop. I used parts from 2 cowlings and the air scoop is part of a drop tank. It's not shaped quite right, but I think it will look fine once the white checkerboard and paint are added. I've spent more time with the paint than I thought and have more to do. The cowling fit's well on the fuse and awaits some white paint and white checkerbord pattern. I used an old P-51 canopy and pilot. The canopy is a little shabby and I repainted the pilot. Both should be changed at some point.

Thanks Kent. I got an email the rest of the graphics have shipped. Yesterday, I installed the wing servos and worked on the paint. I also worked on the canopy scratches with some fine steel wool and then sprayed it with Krylon clear. Looks almost like new. Today, I'm going to install the rudder/tail wheel servo and elevator servo...And, work on the paint some more. The motor, ESC and Rx should go in soon, pop on the landing gears, finish the graphics and possibly be ready for a maiden this weekend.

Ray worked on the Monster 10. He cleaned it up and pushed the shaft through. Thanks Ray. The 11X4 prop looks great hanging out of the big cowl. Really starting to come together.

That's my favorite part of the build - just after she's complete, but no maiden flight yet. The aircraft always looks the best and there is such a sense if pride and accomplishment. That usually disappears when I botch a landing a few hours later

Like many maidens it's more about getting it trimmed right. This one was no different. The only trim issue was elevator, but it took quite a bit, so I landed it and made some manual adjustments at the clevis.
The second flight was much better. I think the speed is somewhat hampered by the scoop air intake. I might block it.
The 11" Hobby Lobby 4 blade is adjustable pitch. I have it set at 10 pitch and since I'm only running a 40A with 2200 25C I'm not using full throttle. I went down to a 10X8 MAS and it flew great at WOT. MAYBE hit 55 which is a little slower than the mule and I think it is the scoop that may be slowing it down a bit.
I'll jump up to a 60A and 4S at some point so I can use the 4 blade to its full potential.
I wish I had some plylons to fly around. ;D

This plane is absolutely fabulous looking in the air. I set up an imaginary pylon about 20' high about 20' in front of me and fly around it about 10 times per pack. Maybe I'll get a pic or vid of it some time.
