OK..My set up. Trex 250 with 120T main gear and 13T pinion averages 3800+ rpm's so the tail rotor turns 17,746 rpm's.
Your set up is capable of over 32.000 rpm's on 3S and over 21,000 rpm's on 2S.
You need to turn down the speed or use a 2300kv motor on 2S or a 1550kv motor on 3S.

Thanks for the info the way I have it setup now this thing will never see full throttle even though I have punched it the tail hold solid but through the TX I can make the tail motor ramp up quicker if I want to. On three cells I have a 2100KV laying in wait but if the tail turns a little fast the servo just compensates by giving less pitch. Its to bad this would be a cheap easy conversion on a Blade SR.

Ray, just list the Trex 250 tail parts you used and I start work on a Blade SR version.

Great someone is going to try it PM sent.
Everyday I fly this an I am totally amazed by how well it worked I expected a lot of fooling around with it to make it work right but that was not the case it was easier than the direct drive by far. And the nice thing about the SR is you all ready have the good parts Radio, gyro ect. and you can keep the stock TX! my Walkera has more parts from others than it does of its own but it sure flys damn nice.. Hey Ray,I'd love to send you a 250 to use as a platform for this mod. You could have a test dummy and I would get the DD VP tail. I'll reimburse all your work and parts. Trex or eRazor.Your choice....

I really doubt I could even fly your Trex like you to give it a fair test I would be better off building it and sending it to you!! Ray

The 250 is mainly for hovering drills. I can't see it well enough at 50 feet to do anything crazy. I do some loops right in front of me as it passes. That's about it. It's kinda doggy on 3S but is pretty sick on 4S but I busted one of my 2S packs so that's over.
That left me with only one 2S pack so I been using 3S on the eRazor and that is CRAZY fast.lol.. I have my throttle curves maxed at 51% and it flys rings around thr Trex. I can only fly one pack an hour though. The ESC gets pretty hot dialed down like that. It's an 18amp.I might put a 30 amp on it.Weight is not an issue since it climbs like a bottle rocket now.Only problem is the tail.In a full force 2 second power punch,it gets about 100 feet high and does about 15 piros whether I want to or not. I need a more reliable tail and definately a gyro/servo combo that does about 60* in 0.05.

I took the 180D out to a machine shop I use to work at there is a lot of room to fly Wow this bird can really scoot!! I wish I would have had a video it almost looks like I knew what I was doing But it really does fly nice and there is no range issues like there is with the stock TX/RX, When I use to do a piro with the stock setup you needed about 20' of room it seemed as though the tail would drag it around in a wide arc. For some reason this does not do that piros are quick and tight. I think I will try this same type of setup on a 450 it just really works well... Ray
