Took me about 3.5 hours: Its a 51% scale of the original. 1300 mah 3S up front, ICE50 lite, and a Grayson Micro Jet with a 4.75x4.75 prop for starters. I still have to make the canopy, but I wanna see if it will fly before I take all the extra time. Oh, there's also the standard CF tubing on the leading edge and one flat cf spar across. I made the motor mount out of the back of the Fun Jet mount and screwed it into two pieces of bass wood. Anyone think it will fly? Anyone think the elevons are too small?

cool idea It should fly as long as you get a good CG. It will probably have a a tendency to do a huge torque roll on launch if you use too much throttle. The elevons do look a little small, but I wouldn't make them any larger until you fly it. It might be a bit on the heavy side for the wing area. But, you know all of this already.

Yeah, if i had a 2S battery, it would be in there already. Maybe I'll wait and order one.

Well the first toss it torque rolled itself right into the ground.
I glued the nose back on and doubled the elevons size and put a light weight 3S 1300mah on there. I also put the Micro Dan 2900kv motor on there. She flew for about 3 seconds when a huge gust shoved her into the ground. I'm not sure if my COG was off cause she dropped a good 4' OR if it was the 10mph gust....
Rebuild when I return from the road and I'm trying again. It's gonna work!

I rebuilt the mini Stryker cause I didn't feel like it had enough wing loading for the weight if the 1300mah battery. I decreased the angle on the leading edge to give more wing area and extended the nose a little bit. 15mph winds today. Flew for 20' nicely and landed. 5.5x4.75 prop on the micro dan motor. I also doubled the aileron size.

Looks more airworthy with the larger wing area

Well, got 20 yards of flight this time. After the launch she corrected nicely, flew straight, but didn't seem to respond well to up elevator.
Gonna move the pushrods down a hole for more throw and repair the balsa motor mount. It cracked on the hard set down. I think I need to raise the mount and beef it up somehow. I have 2.5" of prop hanging below the underside of the plane it may crack every time I land.

Man...
After a few COG adjustments (she was simply too nose heavy) I thought I had it right. Chucked her at 3/4 throttle and she almost pulled up. Flew 20 yards in a straight line, 2' off the deck with the elevator pegged full up. The nose caught and she exploded. I'm gonna try to salvage it for more test runs, but its gonna be tough.
Getting closer...

A butt-load of hot glue and extreme tape and I've got a flying mini Stryker! It's not as fast as I had hoped (maybe 50-60mph) and it's not super stable on hard, high speed turns, but it's sure a sense of pride to get her in the air! Not pretty, but in the air she looks and sounds like a Stryker! On the next build I'm gonna try to make her more aerodynamic and stiffen up everything. I'll use hinges for sure.

Here's some pics of V4 and baby brother "stubby": I flew "Stubby" today and made a few more adjustments on the radio. The stability is much better now that I have the plane trimmed out. I can do about 4 rolls per second and I have yet to try a loop. She still likes to drop the nose a little on a high speed, tight, turn. So the flight characteristics of the full size Stryker are much better. But I'm sure it has to do with the heaviness of Stubby. The 1300mah 3S is the culprit. Still fun as heck though! Today I will be working on the next version. This will include a thicker airframe and some sanding to take on the "Strker" shape.

Hmmmmm....How about calling the big boy: "Bat Man", originally known as the "The Dark Knight" ='s the "Darkside" Stubby is then "Robin" the "Boy Wonder", smaller, but trying real hard.

Hahaha! Nice 19K! Well, I took apart a perfectly working plane for parts. This is what I was working on: Mini stryker next version. 3 pieces of 6mm depron sanded to shape. Currently the nose is banana'd after 5 test launches. Can't find the COG: And the vertical stabs busted when it landed on the roof. COG was aft. Sigh...

Finding COG with that kind of wing isn't easy, especially, after you've made so many changes to the foam and adding parts, etc.
I'd try running a line from the leading edge to leading edge through the fuse as a base.
