Ah man. What a shame.
You'll get her dialed in. We always find our comfort zones and then we stick to them - even if it takes a few rebuilds.

Oh, sorry I missed the story. That really is sad.
I understand what you mean about an odd need to have that plane always! I am that way with these Funjets and now the F27Q! I am on Funjet #5, but only F27Q #1. I'll never be without either one of these, as long as I can at least rob a bank, or sell my home if worst comes to worst!! Kent

Thanks guys. We've all been there it seems.
I think I've found another AT Mig 15 airframe. Nice thing is, this time around, I can go right to the final set of mods without the interim steps. Should have her up in the air pretty quickly.

Found a new Arttech Mig-15 and modded it up in just an afternoon.
Now if I can get some decent weather for a maiden I'll be back in the Mig-15 business. Right now it's so hot and humid I'm afraid it might melt in mid flight.

Lol! I remember that feeling from my Florida summers. Lots of water and a spare t-shirt were my secret. Never lost a plane due to liquefaction yet

I've lived in Florida and Arizona, wet heat and dry heat. I'm just not used to much heat anymore and the humid heat is the hardest for me to deal with. Ugh.
We got out about 8:30 this AM, before it got too bad. The Mig flew really nicely. Take offs are easy at 3/4 throttle. Plenty of power for aerobatics and low speed passes. I'm happy.
I went outside a little while ago with the intention of going out for a few flight. It was like walking into a Sauna. Think I'll stay in the rest of the day.

I hear ya r/c. Being trapped inside summer or winter is the only time I really get a lot of work done on the fleet.
Yesterday afternoon I spent tuning up and touching up the current fleet and even made some progress on the newest P-47D "Thunderbolt" with the Power 25, 60A ESC and 4S pack.
Now it looks like we're in for some really hot and stormy weather again today. Hope this ends soon.

That's the same setup I have on my T-28. I use anywhere from a 10x7 prop up to a 12x6. Take-offs are within 20 feet and the torque and vertical feels limitless. You should really like that setup.

I'm going with a 10x6 4blade for starters, to keep the looks scale, and depending on how many amps it draws, and watts it produces, go up from there.

Well, back to the Mig 15. This time around I put a different motor and fan in it. One from the defunct Wings Maker F-35. Don't have the specs. Wings Maker doesn't quote them. It's a 65mm, five blade fan and a honking big inrunner. The F35 was twice as big as the Mig.
Holy cow, what a difference. When my wife saw it fly she couldn't believe it was the same plane. It leaps off the ground in about 30ft, climbs vertical and really moves...Maybe 80-85. Plenty fast for a tiny Korean era bird. Still lands too fast though...I'm going with spoilerons to help that.

Yup, a long glide with spoilerons should help you out. She will really slow down when you dive, then pull up and the drag from the entire airframe catches.

A friend of mine has one of these and he asked me to mod it for him. This time I got rid of the Boat Anchor inrunner and fan an installed an AEO 64mm fan and 4300kV outrunner motor with a 30A proton ESC. I used the stock battery. The whole rig came out quite a bit lighter than stock. I had to add a little weight in the tail for CG purposes.
We had a slight break in the weather Sat., so I took it out for a test. The plane rotated fairly quickly compared to my old one and flight was rock solid with no trim adjustments. Top speed is stately if not fast. I did a couple of circuits and landings and was pleased with the new set-up.
The landing gear is especially nice on this model. It looks quite scale and is very strong. I gave it a real test bouncing over clumps of ice.
I feel good handing this plane over to my fiend. It will be his first EDF.
