Been looking very closely at one of these and avidly reading the rock crawler forums for some insight. Likely will get the kit in a few days. Should be a fun build.

what motor and esc you thinking. im a castle guy. i was thinking a savox 1290 for steering.
i guess the kit is upgraded quite about abit from the regular rtr version. but you dont get any eltronics.
the one in the vid i posted is about how id like ending up.

Having no electronics, but having some upgraded parts is why I'm thinking kit rather than RTR. The motor/esc that comes with the RTR isn't a very strong combo. Plus you get universals rather than dogbones with the kit. And a few other goodies like alum lower links and better compound tires.
I haven't checked the Savox 1290 per se, but have looked seriously at the Savox line. Motor and ESC will likely be Holmes Hobbies brushed. I can't get a good feel for any of the brushless combos at this point. Nobody seems to have a consensus on BL yet. Many like the Mamba Pro ESC, though.
My rock racing will be more of the crawl side of things and not the full out racing. I've got a 1/10 SCT for bashing.

I bought a 1290 for my t Rex 600 tail. Its water proof fast and tourge. On YouTube. See a lot of traxxad 2075s n the wraith.
The 1290 has metal gears aluminum case fast more torge but does cost 30 dollars more. I think a used align 610 would also work well. It has good torgue but not as fast. They sometimes go for 30 bucks or less on eBay.
I'm liking the looks of the Mamba Max 5700 .
I wont run brushed stuff if I have a choice. I'm more a basher the crawler.
I have money burning a hole in my PayPal. Have a savox 1290 and 1258 in the garage. Aswell as a castle Sidewinder system

Well, I did a little further research on the Savox servos. The 1290 is probably great for a 600, but not enough torque for a crawler. 69oz-in. Likely OK for bashing, but could suffer a quick death when you get the tires wedged in the rocks. I got the 1256TG...277oz-in and ordered the Wraith kit last night. Now we'll have to see if Canada Customs hits me up for import fees.

Holly crud your right 1256 has 222 torgue and the 1290 like 60. 1258 would be better then a 1290 for steering.

I wonder if a 3595 motor will work n the wraith with a 2 cell lipo. I've got a scorpion 8 I could use. And a 5000 2 cell turnigy. .

If you're talking about a 3595kv motor, then it could be OK for speeding around. Not so much for low end crawling, though and likely not much torque. I think the Wraith is about 7-8 pounds, depending on installed equipment.
The Scorpions are strong motors, but they work best at about 80%+ RPM (as do most brushless), so stock gearing may be an issue.

yeah it ran best on 4 cell at about 80% but on 4cell i feel it would mostly likly be to much power for the wraith to handle .
this is literly killing me. i have money burning a hole and i can spend it on wraith or more 600 stuff. i gota hold strong and get a 600 flying im so so close.
im kinda looking for for basher faster wraith like the video i posted . that wraith has the mamba max system dont know what kv though

Put your money into the 600 and get that working 100% first would be my suggestion. I've done a ton of research on the Wraith and it's definitely a money pit especially for those that plan on using it as a basher.
From some quick calculations, it appears that most who upgrade the basic kit to something they can beat up without regular pit stops costs Wraith owners about $1000 (incl the kit). This is a bit of a wakeup call for prospective Wraith owners who thought the $350 RTR would be sufficient.
Don't get me wrong, the Wraith is an excellent platform for crawling, trail riding and some bashing, but it'll cost some cash to keep it rolling.

In that case I'm most likly better of building a losing 8 t or hot bodies roller of course on brushless power. Thanks for the reply that gives me a new perspective on it
