Hey All, I'll be spending my day at the University of Phoenix stadium for the "Electric Flight Expo." I'll be taking pictures and videos, and passing the good word about our little forum. I hope to meet Lucien Miller from Innov8tive Designs (makers of Scorpion Motors). Anyone who listens to the "Power System Corner" on www.allthingsthatfly.com should know who he is. I hope to post a review somewhere. This is a three day event, with most of the flying done in the dome. I may return tomorrow since the admission price is fairly cheap. Here's the link to the shows website: www.efexpo.com/

Dang Robby why can't they do something like this here. They have an indoor stadium just setting empty for 5 years now, if not longer.
Get plenty of the pics and vids. How about we start a new section for videos? Dave

We're all prepared to be envious dooz, so try not to rub in how good an event it is. You could say it is terrible and Miller is a first class jerk. You know; stuff like that. Might makes us feel a little better...Not much though. Let us know where the expo is going to be at next year; just in case any of us want to have an equally miserable time. ;D Happy landings

Dave, fork over some money for a charter bus next year. I'll see if I can get my wife to sign my permission slip for a field trip ;D

Hey,it just so happens that I have a bus ;D
It belongs to a bunch of friends. We have converted it to a race chaser. We take it to all sorts of races.Especially 410 Sprint car dirt track racing. Our favorite is the Kings Royal at El Dora Speedway in Rossberg OH.
You'll recognize it if you see us. It says "Muddy Beer Racing Tours" down one side and "The He!l With The Race,We're Here For The Party" down the other.
Look for us at various speedways ;D

Taking a break then going back... I took my dad who got a little tired and my kids pooped out too. My Dad took all the video. I went to a live Finless Bob instruction session. We talked about 450 autos... Night flying, and putting a counter weight system on the tail blade grips. That was the most interesting thing I did. His club is lucky to have a mentor like him. I've got some awesome video. Met Lucien Miller, Finless Bob, and a lot of the helifreak staff. Met Bobby Watts and watched him fly... he buried a Gaui 200. Nobody at all flying 250's. Gaui 200's all over the place.
I'll post more later....

19k and BT bring up a good point. Next year we should organize a get together at one of these events. I'd be a hoot.

Well I laid down to take a nap and just woke up... I'm kind of upset because Bob White and the heifreak crew were tail gating in the parking lot .... night flying. I'm going back tomorrow to watch the finals, and try not to spend any money. Anything RC that you wanted you could find, but it wasn't any less expensive than buying online and there was state tax, so unless it a smoking deal... I could wait.
I was a little bummed because everyone had their helis and planes... I couldn't fly because my radio is in a UPS truck headed to Horizon. Next payday is a JR X9303.
I've got an hour and a half of video I'm sifting through... my dad has commented on some of it and he knows nothing about RC, he's 80, and was getting a kick out of it so.... I might throw some music over those parts.

Looking forward to the video. Was it an open event? Did you need a AMA card to fly? I want to go next year where ever it's at. I'll be looking for the blue bus. ;D
Happy landings

To fly you had to have your AMA card. Since the expo was all R/C electric you didn't need one to get in. I joined anyway... I'll explain more with the videos.
I'm editing the videos now. My dad was taking videos on the first day and the the narration was.... "Colorful." So I'm trying to decide how to handle that. I might pull the sound out and overlay my own commentary.

Nah, leave it in, Dooz. Could be a hoot. What can an 80 year old say that we haven't heard before? Just send the kids to bed. ;D

I did want to add... I had a blast. My kids not so much, so I only took my oldest today. Finless Bob, without out a doubt, is nicest guy in the hobby. People would walk up to him and ask him questions and he'd pull out a helicopter and start teaching. If I could spend a day with that dude, I'd pay... I swear. I heard cool things about the night fly and how it went on late into the night. I should have gone back when I woke up. They were flying in the parking lot...tailgating. If there was a downside, it was the food inside the arena. Absolutely sucked and was waaaaaay overpriced. 5 dollars for a bottle of water, 5 for a soda.... 5 for a soft pretzel... that's BS. My son bought a soft pretzel that was cold and stale.
