What are the advantages or disadvantages of different blade materials? What all materials are they made of? I know of carbon fiber, wood and fiberglass. Just don't know what difference they make. Other then carbon fiber being light and strong. So any more info you guys got would be cool. Got to keep learning.

Weight is the only REAL issue. In the case of a blade strike, most blades will be damaged. Some however will be a total loss. Take styrofoam blades for instance...Very very light and spools up fast and reacts fast.A large bug may bring your heli down though.
Fiberglass will start to delaminate after a few strikes and may come apart in the air.
Carbon fiber(the best choice IMO)will chip and chip before finally failing.
My blades are the best of both worlds.Balsa wood centered Carbon fiber.Light and durable.

Hmm it may be worth it to go with the CF blades. Maybe a little more $ at first but probably worth it in the long run. Thanks for the info.

Just remember, when the blades hit the ground, something must give.If your blades are so tough that they cannot be broken, then the grips will break. If the grips are as tough, the feathering shaft will bend.If the feathering shaft is unbendable, the main shaft will torque and bend.If the main shaft won't give, the main gear will break. If the main gear won't give, the motor will burn out.
Look to the future. What are you willing to work on the most?
My main rotor head is almost indestructable but my light weight blades shatter on impact. If you saw my post with my totalled heli then listen,,,,,
There was damage to the rotor head but nothing compared to if I had plastic blades.
Give your heli a cheap place to break.
