I haven't found a big history of DX7 problems yet. Just seems like the dooz and akent have gotten unlucky in the scheme of things spektrum. The DX7 has a particularly low defect occurrence of something like 1-2% according to my sources.

I'm sure that's an accurate percentage. It just sucks when that number falls on you. Even the owner at my LHS said, "do you have a rain cloud following you?" So I'm sure its fairly uncommon. I might have been less likely to start this thread had I been given what I paid for. The radio was two months old when I found out about the recall (thanks 19). I bought new, I paid a new price, I wanted a new radio. They weren't doing it, and were fairly short and unapologetic in their correspondence (my CSR's name was Chris Puckett). That's my real beef. They screwed the pooch, but didn't want to own up to it. They cheaped out and bought some crappy pots that affected many people. They even tried to say that it was certain date codes when we all know that solitaire had bad pots, and no date codes. There are others with that story as well.
I found out last weekend, all I had to do was bring my radio back to the guy I bought it from and he would have replaced it and sent mine back himself. He did it for everyone else, I just never asked. I figured it wasn't his issue. He's just a small LHS, but he had the right idea... take care of your customer. That's something Horizon doesn't understand.... at least in my case. If the little Hobby shop owner gets it, why couldn't they? Mistakes are ok, just own up to them, take care of the people that got screwed, and strive to make a better product the next time.

There are worse things to be unlucky with than a radio system. ;D
I've heard some good and bad stories about Horizon's customer service in relation to the recall. Mostly good. In a guys personal experience, if it's bad, it's bad and who really cares about how somebody else was treated. I'd be PO'd too and wouldn't buy anything from a source that didn't treat me right.
That's some great customer service for a LHS dooz. Too many of the LHS don't realize that going the extra step might keep or gain them some customers and that's a huge thing in this economy.
One of my LHS just went belly up. They had lousy customer service. Who knows what might have happened if they'd have been better.
