i decided to change some parts out on my blue ray w/align parts i noticed that the gear assembly was rubbing on my servo as you can see here these bearings should be pressed on the shaft, and they are not. so there is nothing stopping this shaft from shifting upward. bad disign IMO so i replace with the align part these bearing are pressed on so the shaft isn't going anywere, however i do have an update on this. so let me upload some photo's and i'll put up a post on it

so as you can hopfully see the align part seems to have some funky 2 piece design the bottum part of the gear is locked in good but the top piece won't stay put. and here is the results of that so did i miss somthing here? i didn't see any other way to do it but i did find one solution www.microheli.com/product_info.php?cPath=84&products_id=197but of course they are out of stock. so i'm thinkin their must be some kind of ongoing problem with these gears

Fergie, I bought the same Align pulley set. The upper pulley is NOT a press fit on the shaft!!! Just like yours!
The pulley is separate, as the CNC bearing holder is one piece. The bearing and shaft pass through it and then you are supposed to press the pulley on.
I don't trust glue there. I may try to knurl the shaft somehow and then use some glue. I'm surprised that Align has this problem! Kent

i agree kent, the pulley is not press fit but the bearings are. did you happen to check out the microheli link on the pulley, them being out of stock on those kind of made me wonder if it's a big problem w/these. what i did do though is cleaned the shaft w/some rubbing alcohol and applies some RED thread loc. i'm going to let it set over night and see if i can pull it off in the morning. i've done some searching around about this,to see if there was some kind of fix, but i haven't found anything yet. please let me know if you come up w/anything.
OHH, i also thought about taking out the whole thing and useing a center punch to the center of the shaft. kind of barbaric but it shouln't go anywere then.

by using a center punch, its kinda like knurling it. but in crude way.anthing to stop the part from moving will help.

UPDATE: well the RED tread loc seems to be holding pretty dang good. i couldn't pull it off. didn't even budge. still not sure if i trust it though. i'm going to take her out for a couple of test flights later today and keep an eye on it. so i'll keep you posted on that. i might even cap it off w/a little epoxy.

Good job Fergie!
I think I'll try both the red loctite and the centerpunch idea.
I do like the epoxy idea, too! Kent

Yep. Loctite requires clean surfaces. I'm glad that your gears are staying put! Kent

UPDATE: sh!t sorry kent my gear finally gave out yesterday. i am NOT playing around w/this any more. i'm just going to order the whole unit from micro heli and call it good. the gear just started spinning on the shaft, and worked it's way upward. this is the first align part that i used that i would consider a POS. here i was thinking i found a problem, and a way to correct it, but the correction seemed to be no better that the original part. so.. sorry kent i feel like i sent you on a wild goose chase. to tell you the truth i'm kind of mad about this whole deal, it's the only thing keeping me from getting some flight time in

Sorry it didn't work, ferg. I did notice the MicroHeli gear is back in stock now. Looks like that's the way to go. These damm things can nickel and dime you to death, sometimes.

No apologies necessary, Fergie!!
I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. I hope it didn't cause any other damage when it failed.
It is too bad that these things have issues sometimes!
Those Microheli gears look really nice. I agree that they look to be a good way to go. Kent
