I ended up stealing one from my SE spare to fix the T450. (I bought another SE kit just for spare parts). It has a plastic upper bearing holder now, but it works fine. I put the Align POS in my spare parts pile. I think if I ever need it, I'll buy one of those Microheli gears.
That's great that it didn't cause a crash!! Kent

i'm glad your not having problems w/it kent, yea i see microheli has the gear now but i wasn't sure if the dia. of the shaft was the same or not, it should be, so i was going to order the whole unit but hey guess what there out of stock on those now, LOL man i just can't win ;D ;D but i'll get it. at least that align gear might come in handy if your out in the field or somthing and you need a backup right away. but yea, my heli started spinning like mad when it gave way, so ya i'm pretty lucky there was no crash. whew
so could you say i did my first piro? LOL

i got the micro heli gear, but i was determend to make the align one work. so i took some sandpaper lightly scuffed the shaft, and applyed some CA glue (medium)to it. man it's workin awesome, very soild this time. although it's important to let it dry overnight. FYI ;D

Hey guys, I just determined that the cause of my Blue Ray crash was due to the belt pinion slipping off the main gear. It looks like it was simply stuck on there with loc-tight. Is that how its supposed to be or is this whole assembly toast?

yea gabe, loc tight no good in this situation. as you might have read in earlyier posts in this thread. medium to heavy ca is the way to go here. still no issues with the align part. that weird i still have the stock blue ray part and i'm pulling on the gear right now and it's not moveing. the shaft and gear should have splines. but the problem i had with mine was the bearings not being "pressed" on allowed the whole shaft to ride up into my servo. does this make sence?

Totally. The only thing is, the inner portion of the blue part in my picture does not have splines. The top of the shaft does though. If it was supposed to have splines on the inside, they must have disintegrated.

i'm looking at mine right now it should have splines on the belt gear and the gear that rides on the main auto rotate gear and thats it. thats weird that your belt gear pulled off like that. but just ca that baby on the shaft, and i put a little puddle of ca on the top to, and that should take care of it. be sure to let it dry overnight though.

Thanks bro. I'll do it right now. Oh, btw - Xheli has the CNC rotor head assembly and swash plate AND the tail assembly all on sale for $39. Bought it. Lets see how she does this time around.

did you buy the blue ray SE? thats a sweet price. the cnc that came with my blue ray has held up well exept the tail it's align now.due to a wreak awhile back. but one word of advice, replace all the rod links on the main rotor head with align ball links, amazing deference. i would never have though something so small could make that much of diference but it does. food for thought ;D

Yup yup. With this crash (first on with the Blue Ray BTW, and it wasn't even my fault), I completely sheared the main shaft at the swash, lost half of the swash assembly, busted the blades and rotor head, lost the flybar and paddles somewhere in the field, and finally busted the skids. Figured it was the optimal time to put the CNC stuff on there, especially at that price.
Bought the blue shark mouth canopy too from XHeli - the stock one shattered into a thousand pieces.
I'll grab those links on the next order. They really make that much difference?

WOW! but just a piece of friendly advice, and i can't stress this enough. minus the rotor assembly replace everything with align parts. you've probably seen me post this before but. but if you like this heli now you will totally love it after the align tranformation. you probably know this allready. align main shafts come in tree packs, the spindel shafts come in two packs, and the price is reasonable. blue shark canopy, sweet! take some pics but yes the rod links made a he|| of a diference IMO. no need to use a resizer on them. and put just a little dap of 3in1 oil on them.it just seemed to make everything smoother overall if you know your heli you will see the diference, which i'm sure you do. as for the skids i bought a pair of align bump resitent skids and put on the blue ray. i gotta say very tough. i put them through the test LOL.
