Thank you solitaire and Ernie This blazing star started out as a real lemon so I decided to mod it I figured I couldn't hurt it any it has the brushless alpha motors in it with the esc in a vacuum formed box under the RX. I made the side plates lighter and I did the engine turned design on them. If you expand the photo you will also see the turn buckles that I built that gives you infinite adjustment. The Rx & Tx are out of a CX2, The tail assembly was all built by hand the first part is vacuum molded the shaft is carbon fiber and the fins are lexan all this mounts directly to the main frame. The flybar is also carbon fiber and the light's are my own design that have a built in motion detector. The battery carrier is aluminum and carries a 1250MAH battery at 15C the canopy is a modified CX2 canopy held on with neodymium magnets. The main shaft has been replaced with 3mm piano wire with the end's precision ground to fit the blade holder and gear very strong and very straight. The whole setup is 10 grams lighter than stock and flies about 10 minutes longer than stock, the motors and esc's never get above room temp. so far and it is sooooo quiet now it went from sounding like a sewing machine to a swiss watch a fun build and a very tight one for the wire's to the motors it just takes time and a lot of thought.. I would recommend RTF's Brushless conversion if you have given up on the Blazing Star this thing has so much power. Thanks again Sol for putting the pictures up... Ray

Thanks Guys It really is fun to fly now I still need to get over that I dont need to worry about what crazy thing the radio is going to do that part has ended. it just amazed me that with as many modifications that where done all at once it flew the first time without a glitch. Later I had to set the throttle points and I did have a bad battery connector so I went to the EC2 connectors small gold plated no heat shrink needed and they will do 20 amps. Setting the throttle points through the converter is the only way to go but there is a lot different procedure you need to go through to make it come out right but it makes a big difference in control and power. Thanks again I like any comments good or bad it give's me something new to think about for the next one. Ray

What happened to the links and pics Have some patience, Kiwi. The pics are hosted on my ancient server and it's a bit slow to load, sometimes...kinda like me. <edit> I changed the host to Photoshop. Might load a bit quicker, now.

nice mod - but the best part is all of the goodies are hidden - no wires hanging out to give it away - really clean look = VIC

For all you BS owners from my past experience RAY is the man. Just look at that work of art. I'd like to see the mixed nuts guy from the other place accomplish what my man has achieved.. Too advanced for me at this point I still need to get the flying down before I advance to more parts I can break...LOL Nice job Raygun

For those who are interested in the twin brushless conversion that Raygun did, goto: www.rtf-heli.com/Blazingstarbrushless.htmlIt's not cheap, but think about how many pairs of 370 carbon brushed motors you burn through at about ($20 a pop). These brushless motors stay cool to the touch, which means you can fly all day as long as you swap the LIPO battery IN/OUT. No more waiting for the motor to cool down. Plus, you get lots more power as the RPM levels are higher. Old 370 motors: New twin brushless motors:

Ray, that is one of the most beautiful heli's I have ever seen. It looks so clean!!
And the tail set that you designed is a work of art also!
I can also attest to the durability of this mod. Ray sent me a tail set that I installed on my BS. I tried to get a video, and it was too windy for the BS. A gust sent it smashing into my golf cart. The original plastic motor was glued on the Ray tail part. That part is gone. I have no idea where it went. The rest of the tail is perfect still, though! That is not only awesome looking, it is really rugged!
Everyone with a BS needs one of those tails!
Thanks again Ray! Kent

ok so where is the parts list, and break down step by step to build this? this rocks and i think it would be a blast to build. heck id even pay for the how to on it. might be worth selling for a couple bucks on rtfheli to help his mod budget.
take peoples full blown mods like this, make a whole pdf howto with parts list and step by step instructions, then sell them for say 2-5 bucks, and let them know the sales goto the Mod budget that rtf is constantly doing.
