Just use an ad blocker with your browser. I use FireFox with Adblock Plus and don't see any of these ads.
I'm sure there is an equivalent program for IE.

you can also click at the bottom under the google search to make this board ad-free, i've never used it though so i don't know how well it works.

I think it's funny because there is a cost to them to be on the banner nothing like them supporting the forum!

Oh i dont mind the ads it just think its funny lol.....
but hey Ski pointed out something good tho. Does RTFHELITALK get any money for clicking on the ads? if so i say everytime we see xheli lets click on their ads so we take money from them and put it in the forum coffers lol.... talk about payback...
and to the one who said do you pay for google ads yes you do. there are two systems, one is what we see uptop, and second is their ranking when you search for RC Helicopters.
You will notice xheli is the very first one on the list with 2 others, then on the right side are more. what this is is they pay for specficially Rc Helicopters, its a bidding system. They pay google to put them in those top 10 spots, ie pay per click xheli could be paying from 5 cents to 100 bucks a click for being number one, its all based on the others what is it worth to them to be number one. say xheli is paying 50 cents for anyone who clicks on the google search the guy below can steal it from xheli by offering 51 cents ( or whatever googles increment is) and be number one if they wish so long as xheli does not raise their pay per click amount.
Now here is where it gets interesting, they pay for search terms, above it would be RC Helicopters, but if they want RC Heli they have to pay seperatly for that, if they want Radio Controlled that would be another cost. So picking the right search term means alot to be in that spot.
do this google RC Helicopter, then Radio Controlled Helicopter.
you will find xheli paying for both to be number one, but the number two on RC is number three on Radio Controlled.

ah but the google system can be surpassed, ie you type in RC Helicotper and see xheli as the first one, if you want to avoid getting xheli charged by google, you just type in the name in the addy bar. google only gets payed IF YOU CLICK the link on their search page, yahoo does this msn and so on. they divide up the search engine with the normal returns displayed below or in some cases the payed ones are on the side. usually they are set off to be easily identified.
to be number one in google it takes alot, from inventive name, meta tags and the one factor that moves you up the most, is google compares how many times your site is listed on other sites. the more sites that host a link to your site the farther up the normal search result chain you climb.

Dave explained early on that the RCTalk platform is Proboards and they use Google for the ad streams and Google decides what goes up in the ad windows.
Happy landings
