hey guys just wondering when i finally get into 6ch i would like to get into a 400 or bigger heli, so im curious do you think the Trex is a good heli, or is there others just as good for a bit less? Mainly i have noticed Trex is mentioned all over the place so im assuming here that they have been in the bussines of creating helis for a long time and probably know what they are doing to provide a great product even tho it might be a bit high priced. So just getting a feel for what you all think about the Trex Helis and then any other recomendations for a 6ch Heli. Note i have a 3d Heli sitting here waiting for when the time comes, i have the Falcon 3D, got it cheap on ebay even after fixing his crash which cost about 50 bucks i still came out around 30 bucks cheaper then buying the heli new.

The Align Trex is a tried and true heli. I fly them myself and absolutely love them. Right now it's a Trex 500 from Align.
I have had a few Trex clones that were very good helis. The Trex design has been around for a long time. They appear to have short lived pattents and get cloned about one year after release so clones are pretty current designs.

Or maybe really bad patent attorneys. I have wondered how companies get away with cloning them so easily. Good for me, though. Helps get me hooked until I can work up to the real thing.

The Falcon 3D is definitely a 400 size heli as Mc says. Same size as the G2/Walkera 36B.
On the patent thing: If a manufacturer has a patent and can identify a shipment coming into the country with a copied product the manufacturer can contact customs and they will seize the shipment and send it to the manufacturer holding the patent. That puts the patent holder in a very good position. They can then negotiate with the copier for compensation for the shipment, simply destroy the shipment, sell the contents back to the copier or even sell it themselves as a cloned product. Harley Davidson has done this many times.
Align changes their designs to maintain a leadership position even if the patent hasn't expired.
Happy landings

I'll have to mull that over a little

Even though Align stuff is more expensive, they definitely make quality stuff. As some people have mentioned in other threads, many other heli's and parts are clones of align, but the motors, ESC, frames, and heads on the align stuff just beat everything else hands down in my opinion. Since I got my T-rex 450 and started flying it properly I have increased my skill a lot as it just flies so sweeeeeeeeet. If you are gonna invest in a decent 450-600 class then go Align if you can I say. Either that or an EXI and then change out parts as you go.
On another note, the weather up hear is fan-freakin-tastic!! Sunny and calm. Been at the park across the street from my place already this morning with my 450, flew 2 batteries and practicing my stall turns and generally pissing off the squirrels ;D Bring on summer I say!!!!

Heres my two cents Think thunder tiger 50 rtf series saw one at the lhs you can get them in either power sources all u have to put on is the tail while i was looking it over i ran into a flight instructor for rc helicopters and he said mind you this is hearsay on this part that this heli will fly as soon as you put the tail on comes with radio and all he lots of good to say for this one thunder tiger raptor rtf they wanted an amazing price of $600.00 bucks for it its supposed to have top of the line electronics with it I'm seriously thinking about getting one for myself

According to a friend whose been in the hobby biz awhile; Thunder Tiger used to be "the" heli before Align.
Now here's the bad news re: Align...LHS dealers hate them. They are a real pain in the arse to deal with on customer service and parts info and parts updating. He'll be stocking the new Thunder Tigers and cutting back on the Aligns.
Happy landings
