ok as im just now starting to understand some of this, i have a question.
If i buy a Futaba Radio, are their certain Futaba items i must have? ie do i have to have a Futaba ESC or Futaba Servos?
Basically whats electrical parts are a must be the same, and which can be mixed and matched?
I do know the trans/receiver have to be the same, but beyond that what other parts should i or must i keep the same brand?

yeah I would try to keep all the electronics the same but yoy can use different servos gyros but if you keep them all one type then you know it will all work together properly less chance of gliches just my thoughts

Other than mating a Futaba Rx to the Tx, nothing else has to be the Futaba brand. Size your motor, ESC, servos and gyro to your heli. It doesn't matter which brand.
I should add, keep your cyclic servos the same IE: all analog or all digital and the same brand (doesn't have to be Futaba)

The following addresses compatibility, but not quality of components. Mileage may vary. ;D
Bottom line: 1) Use the Futaba FASST Tx & Rx. 2) Use the same servo types; analog or digital (make sure the size, weight, speed and rotation specs match for cyclic applications. The tail can be faster) but don't worry about the brand as far as compatibility is concerned. 3) Use ESC, Motor and Battery that are compatible and meet the helis requirements. Brand makes no difference.
Happy landings
