Hi all, I wanted to give some of you a "heads up" on a company I just did business with name "RC Fever". They are a Hong Kong based company most likely affiliated with many other Heli companies. You KNOW how that works, right? EXCEED/Walkera - etc., etc. Getting to the point. I had a negative experience with them. Let me explain. I purchased a WALKERA 0703 computer Radio System. It's cost was great. $204.00 plus s & h. I am experiencing a problem with it though and the company has pretty much written me off & said "...tough luck, buddy"! Either they don't wanna help me OR they don't understand me and cannot help me. Either way it sucks! My problem is, they sent it with an NiMh battery instead of the LiPo. Being new to this helicopter stuff I am a bit upset because I wanted LiPo power for the "onboard" battery source for a new project 450 I am building. So, I wrote to them and told/accused them they sent me an airplane system, somehow, because it came with a fuselage switch? normally found on RC airplane fuselage's. I will accept any, and I mean ANY advice to straighten me out on this. Be nice. I'm "green"! While I do have a legitimate "gripe" (which is why I really started the thread) that they have terrible customer service, I might have a system that IS for heli's and I am just not understanding the way the system is supposed to be set up (which is most likely the case). I dunno. I'm stumped. Here's MY issue/s needing YOUR experienced advice. 1) Can a system like I have be used for heli's? 2) If so, what's the darn switch for? - it IS part of the RX plug setup. 3) How can I "convert" to LiPo? As it is now, they sent a 4.8V 1100mAh NiMh batt. for "onboard" RX & servo use. I wanna LiPo! 4) It also has an additional (empty) battery holder for something - using 4 AA batteries. The plug on it IS for the RX. So I am puzzled about THAT as well. The NiMh has an RX plug and so does that "spare" AA batt holder. I don't know what else the spare would be used for. Any thoughts on that? Here's where I got it so you can see it: www.rc-fever.com/wk0703-7ch-pcm-radio-control-system-for-rc-helicopter-p-1483.htmlThanks to all who answer and help me get some edification on this!

If you're new to this hobby; ask first buy second. ;D
I don't know anyone with this system. It's a multi channel FM system with nothing going for it in an age of 2.4gig multi model systems you might want to stick in a 450 unless you had a bunch of walkera helis. Sorry.
The battery pictured is a NiMh not a lipo. The battery for your 450 will definitely be an 11.1 volt lipo although I don't see any indication that a lipo was advertised to be included in the pkg.
Happy landings

Yep, nothing in the description or pic to indicate any other power source than the NiMh. If it has the standard JST connector, measure your battery compartment size (lxwxh) as there may be a LiPo that will fit. Post back with that and maybe we can steer you in the right direction.
I know zip about Walkera products, so I'm no help on the switch.

might be able to use the switch for when you go into 3d mode as a throttle lock. i have heard of pilots using their old airplane controlers to do just that, and in reality most often the switch is the same on airplane or heli radios just labeled diffrent.

I screwed up. I saw the price and "bit" based on that. I didn't understand the electronic's end of the hobby which would have caused me to look for certain items and qualities of radio equipment. I shoulda waited! Now, what can I do with the system I have? Can I use it? Convert it? Trade it? Opinions? How can I make a "BIG f*c$-up", right? What's the ole saying? ? "Haste makes waste!"

Hey prlsr, Man, I hate that for you. It can be used for helicopters according to the advertisement. You will have to have a crystal for the TX (radio) and one for the heli to match it. The downside is that it is an FM radio which can allow interference. If you are flying an expensive heli with it.............ummmmmmmmmmmm ....make sure you are away from any possilbe interference and other flyers. If you dont plan on anything too expensive and wont be around other flyers, you might be alright. ? There are still some RTF heli's on the market using FM, but it is quickly becoming a thing of the past. I couldnt find any literature on it, so I dont know anything about the TX as far as set up options. If it were me, I would take the beating and try to sell it on EBay as "NEW". More than likely you will lose money on the deal though.......but with a little luck, maybe not. All you can do is try. A couple of the more popular transmitters are these below. They come with one receiver. You can buy additonal receivers for additonal heli's for as little as $40 and up. For a six channel; www.helidirect.com/spektrum-dx6i-channel-full-range-servos-md2-p-6426.hdxFor a seven channel; www.helidirect.com/spektrum-dx7-dsm-7ch-microlite-heli-3s285-radio-mode-p-3508.hdxIf you decide on the 7 ch. Spektrum, check with Kent or McKrackin. I think they both have them and can tell you more about them. Another good radio would be a 2.4 ghz Futaba. I dont have any experience with them myself, but all I hear about them is good. Just my 2 cents........Im still a newbie myself. (6 months +/-) Keep us posted on the outcome and your decision.

ranben- I appreciate your understanding. Thx!
The radio IS useful if I get what you're saying....but only if I re-crystal it? I have it operating my Walkera already - sorta. The thing activates everything on my Walkera's 0701 RX but the throttle. I haven't figured out why though. I get rudder response, Aile & Elev but no throttle. The servo buzzes and get's quieter as I move the stick up. At a certain point it's pretty quiet. I did NOT activate the ESC to try it (motor) yet for fear of an auto-start at high speed. The original TX works all as usual though - including motor - no problems.
So, I am stumped that the new one works most all servos but not everything is working correctly. From what it's lookin like the TX isn't working due to me missing a programing feature or the like. Dunno.

Lesson learned. Put that dog on ebay and hope for the best. You'll never be happy with it and it would be a menace in a nice 450. Buy a Spektrum or Futaba 2.4.
Happy landings

I have it on craigslist - so far no bites! I may be stuck with the dog! Addendum:I have to say this now, or I won't. That company, FEVER TOY's [aka "RC Fever") sucks at customer service and at having ANY integrity. They outright lied to me that the battery I have in the kit is NOT for onboard use (RX & servos, gyro, etc.) and insisted it was for the TX. I called them on it (i.e. liars) and got no response. I wasn't surprised. "Heads up"!! They may be "ok" on some things but they're terrible at the ones that count (imho). That's MY .02
