You see, it's like this...some of us fe's got board in the back of the heli on a long mission. This should give you an idea of what helicopters are really use for.

My best friend was a C.Cheif on a Chinook in the Marines (well the marine chinnok that is) and he had a nutty guy in the other gunner hole who one day jumped out in full flight just cause he was bored. Pilot was screaming holy hell to drag his stupid ass back in .... not a easy task when the heli was doing over 100 lol

About the same time as the "Airport 75" movie came out (were they lower the guy into the cockpit from a HH3) we dicieded to debunk the thought. But to out amazement, you can really do some air surfing extended 60 feet from the heli on a strap. Had to use the winch to let out and bring back in. After some IFR pilots caught on to what we was doing in the back....all kinds of standarization came out to STAY IN THE F*$*!$G HELICOPTER.
