Just flew two packs in my belt. Put temp gun on one pack and it was 95 degrees run second pack and it was 120 degrees they are both 1800 mah batteries i know one is a 20c and the other one cant tell anybody got any thought's about this phenomena any thought's welcome

Depends on a few things, Phil. Did you draw both LiPo's down to about the same voltage? Did you hover more with one battery? Flight times about the same on both? Is one LiPo older than the other? It very well could be a 15C, which in my mind isn't enough to run a 450 heli. XHeli was selling the Exceed LiPo's and they were all 15C. although I see they've added more with higher C values lately.

they were aproximatly the same flight time on them the one that gets hot is an esky bat and the other is one that xheli sold me at the same time as when I bought the belt cp but arrived three month's later it doesnt heat up just the one that came with the belt does

Hey Phil, I am assuming the hot one was the one you can't read? I had one that was hot and acted flakey. It was a POS and eventually wouldn't work right for more than a few minutes. I am guessing it was a 15c. It would show good voltages when I landed, but the amp draw was apparently too much and the in flight voltages were really pulling down. . Couldn't tell until I got a cheapo LED volt/amp meter I could strap to the heli.
Sol is right. Flight time and final voltage might tell the story.

just so happens the one i can read is the one that gets hot has since new your thread got me questioning the battery temps the one that i cant read stays farely cool. both bats give me same amount of flight time the one that gets hot has a 20c rating.

Oops! I posted right when you did on the last one. Sorry So how hot is too hot? I don't know the answer to that. Was your motor or ESC hot also? I think if it were mine I would give it another run and see if it gives you the same results.

flew the pack again and it was 115 degrees everything else was in mid 90s put 1365 mah back in checked the eagle 50 when i flew it. It has an e-flite 11.1 1000 20c mah bat in it. It gets warm also 110 degrees. (hate being a noob when it comes to trying to figure this stuff out)

Not sure there is anything to worry about, Phil. Different LiPo construction will produce different temps. From what I've read, the best operating range for a LiPo is between 10C and 60C (50F/140F). That's the best range for maximum battery life. Yours is in the upper region, but well within it's range. Between you and BT, my interest in LiPo temps has been piqued and I'm going to test a few of mine just for the helluvit.
