Man, was this a good weekend! 21 packs through the EXI 450SE and even put 1 through the HBFP. The muscle memory is getting there. I can actually think about other things AND do FF without crashing. I can do FFF "S" patterns no problem and am getting better at side in. A very slow process, but I like it that way. Not as many broken parts. Even buzzed a squirrel this morning ;D Couldn't resist ;D I've been flying at the park near my house. I can load my stuff and be at the park plugging in the first pack in about 5 minutes. I played around with altitude this evening. This morning there was too much wind to get too high. This evening it was dead calm on the ground. I got it in a hover and hit the throttle. Daaauuum that thing goes up fast. And mine is a ladybug compared to some of you guys. I got it high enough that I couldn't see the tail, Just the canopy. Too high, really. The wind was blowing up there. Hopefully, with the longer days, I can fly a few packs during the week, too. Hope you guys enjoyed your weekend as much as I enjoyed mine ;D

Ya gotta love it!!! S patterns? Umm...Ok. I think I know what you are talking about. Basically figure 8's without the part that goes nose in, maybe? If so, then that's what I do a lot, too! I really still have a phobia about nose in. The sim is ok, but not the real thing, for some reason. === I was amazed the first time I took the heli (was the SE, too) really high, too. It was a dot up there. You can actually still control it by just doing some side to side moves and then you know what it's doing!! I actually never thought that it was possible to control these when you can't really see it well.
Congrats on the awesome flying day, BT! Are you far from Colleyville? I have some in laws that live there. Maybe I could pack up the family and helis and come up there, dump the family at the in-laws (or bring them, but their attention span for helis is small), and get together to fly? I think there is a park near them that we might be able to fly at, or maybe we could meet up at your field someday?
Take care, Kent

Kent, you would blow me away with that 3D stuff. I'm about 45 min away from Colleyville. Not too far. My schedule is wildly unpredictable in the summer, though. I am a slave to the dam company phone and not by choice. Let me know when you will be this way. It would be pretty cool to fly your 500 ;D ;D ;D Yes, that is what I mean by "S" patterns. Basically headless Figure 8. I can back it to me to complete a pattern, but not with very good control. I started putting the CopterX main and tail on Tuesday. Didn't finish until tonight because of work, but I enjoyed taking my time with it. Got that thing smooth and loctite throughout. I played around with it a little this evening in the yard. When I cut throttle, it takes forever for the blades to stop. Nice! Hoping for a sunny, wind-free weekend!

say bt have question for you on the copter x tail does it still have the plastic in it or have they changed it to metal throughout. I am interested in putting it on my belt cp but i don't want any plastic parts. would like all metal tail thanks

BT, I don't do 3d, yet, really! I can do loops now, nervously, but not flips or anything else, yet. My first flip ended up face planted. I have not tried another one. So no, I am not a 3d person, yet. I actually really enjoy just flying around! I really like that. These things can go FAST! === Your SE will be better than ever now, BT! When I installed the CopterX stuff on my SE, it was amazing. BUT, be sure to check the shafts for straightness very carefully. These Copterx/Exi shafts quite frankly suck. I had a prebent one AGAIN on the head assembly I installed on the SE. A new Align one fixed that. The tail was ok. Their shafts are very annoying, but maybe that's how we can buy this stuff so cheap? I have often wondered if their QA has rejected this stuff, and then sold it somewhere else? I'll give you a shout if we get up your way...
If you ever get down towards Austin, be sure to shout, too! Kent

I am interested in putting it on my belt cp but i don't want any plastic parts. would like all metal tail thanks There are four plastic parts on the CopterX tail, the same as the Exi CNC tail. The two tail control ball links, the tail rotor control arm, and the tail pitch assembly outer housing are plastic. None of these parts have any stress on them, that I can tell, so they should be fine.

Yep, I already had an Align main shaft, so I stuck it on. I didn't even check the CopterX before I replaced it. I tweaked and tuned that thing to the point of being so anal about it I though I was going to turn into an engineer ;D ;D ;D (Technicians think that is a really funny joke, Kent ;D) I saw an article in RC Heli mag with various tips. One of them was to polish shafts with Mother's Chrome polish. I actually polished mine with some very fine rubbing compound. It made a he// of a differance in how smooth the bushing slid on the tail. I tweaked every link, bearing, bushing, screw and damper on that thing. On the main, I leveled the swash. Took one angle measurement and let'er rip. That thing tracked absolutely perfectly without a single linkage adjustment. When I was flying it today, I landed and cut throttle. It was a full 18 seconds before the blades stopped. Smooth. Of course, being the pestimist, I think this means I will crash tomorrow and mess it all up.
