For those who would like to fish for halibuts. Fish and game just lowered the catch limit from two fish to one fish . Everybody up here is up in arms about it. Big debates going on now over bag limits. thought I would share the news

Thxs for the news Phil. While I'm sure that's a big disappointment to many, AK has one of the better fish management programs, not that any of them are really great, so I'd suspect there may be a glimmer of good reasoning there. Does this limit apply to Inuit's too or just non natives?
Happy landings

looks like it is for all sport fishing enthusiast's all guided trips and residents alike the one thing that i found out it is just for the pan handle area inland passages down around the capital of Juneau still is a two fish limit here where I am at but they are trying for the one fish limit here also which would really suck for someone coming to Alaska to catch some but's to stock freezer with by the time you pay for your trip and everything associated with it you catch one fish say at 40 pounds that my friend is really spendy fish but if you got two buts at 40 lbs apeace now you have saved a little money over the winter food bills oh by the way when you clean the fish you will loose 17% of the fish so instead of 80 lbs of fish now you will have 60 lbs sorry got long winded
