The most bizarre thing happened today when I was flying my newly painted yellow EXI 450. It was attacked! I was at a hover about 20 ft up when I say something streak toward my heli and go right through the main blades with a loud THWAP. I landed and went hunting. It was a freaking Hornet! One of those big mothers that are about 2.5 inches long. Of course it wasn’t all there anymore. The head section and most of the wings were gone, but about 1.5 inches was still left and still trying to sting. Apparently that hornet took my heli to be an adversary or a lover . Didn’t work out for him either way! ;D I laughed my azz off. ;D And, of course, I had to bring the remains home. Even after 30 minutes, the thing is still trying to sting. Check this out. Bug splatter on my blades! ;D ;D ;D PS: Flew through all my batteries, too! Bug Splat On The Blades

And i thought that we had big bugs in Alaska ;D Are you gonna fry or bake that critter ;D I wish I had a whole one to show. They scare the shtuff out of me when they buzz too close. 2.5 inches is conservative, I believe. They say it feels like getting hit with a baseball when they make a diving run and sting I'll bet I know what the last thing was to go through that things mine was ----- My Blade ;D ;D ;D BTW, They are not good eating unless you have enough of them for a skewer. Then I prefer to grill them...

BTW, if you start seeing pieces of rabbit or gopher on those blades, you know you're flying a bit too low. ;D

Ya know, it has been every bit of 2 hours since the collision and that torso is still wiggling and trying to find something to sting. Mean creatures...

And 4 or 5 birds kept trying to attack it and were dive bombing it. It was really weird. I wish I had my hb then I could of chased after them.

Never had any bugs that big attack my helis. I've smushed a lot of small ones though.
On the other hand; I had an Eagle attack my park size Supermarine Spitfire last year. It was pretty hilariuos trying to get away until finally I tried to land it, but was so flustered I hit a soccer goal post.
Wasps and bees don't scare me. Hornets do. One attacked my daughter a number of years ago and it just wouldn't give up.
Happy landings

I second that 19000 I went down south and the minute I stepped out of the car a mean red one attacked me repeatedly till I kill it!!! I just flew my BS through a herd of firefly's little glowing things shot off in all directions, made the neighbors little girl cry, Then a wind caught me by surprise and I shorten up my wifes sunflowers. I decided it was time to put it away.. Ray

I would give a dollar or two to get a pigeon with one of these -- hate pigeons. I would love to see that mean mockingbird take a shot at the HBFP. Not the 450, cuz overall I like mockingbirds - Just a good spanking, no killing.
You are right about the hornets not giving up, 19k. They will hunt for you if you piss them off. I'm going back to the same spot this evening to see If I can kill more ;D ;D

That is great, I love messing with nature with these things. Most creatures are smart enough to keep a distance from my heli, but when I get the parkflyer planes out, they all like to fly up close to see what is going on. One time I had my Vapor flying pretty high up, as there was no wind, but then about 15 birds came out of the tree and started chirping and flying circles around it. None of them actually touched it, but it seemed like they were intimidated to have this unknown thing flying in their space.
I've got a neighbor whose dog likes to catch frisbees, and he also like to try catch my helis, not so good. I was flying the G2 around outside one day and he got out. I couldn't land it anywhere near him because he kept trying to eat the blades. Since I didn't want to chop his jaw off, I had to land it over on the other side of another neighbor's chain link fence. A few close calls there for him though.

That's cool, BT! Is that a Cicata killer?
It sure looks like one. They live in the ground. Look for a hole about the size of a quarter in the ground, and you might get a few to come out to play!!
Those are rare here in central Texas, but we have lots of Turantula killers here. They are about the same size, but have red tail and wings. These things are NASTY, if they get pizzed at you! They hurt worse than a scorpion sting!
I hope you get to chop up a bunch of them dam things! Best, Kent
