Are LiPo battery brands about the same in terms of quality and how long they last? I see quite a difference in price between identical spec batteries, and I am wondering if I should just get the cheapest ones. Opinions anyone?

There are BIG differences in quality. Outrage packs will generally last through 200-300 cycles. Hyperion next gen packs can go twice that and can be charged at a very high rate like 5A. Some of the cheapos will start failing at 75 or 80 cycles. Zippys are cheap but their quality is hit and miss.Sometimes you get 150 cycles and sometimes just a few.
If you can get them cheap enough though, any lipo will perform as long as the capacity and safe discharge rate is OK.
I have a couple of Win Force 2800mAh 30C 3S packs(Never used)I would let go cheap.Say,$40 for the pair shipped. I know nothing about them.I bought them for an experiment and later learned they won't work for the app I was thinking about.

I like the zippy's for the money. Like ern said; quality isn't consistant, but my luck has been more good than bad with them. I just ordered a bunch more from Hobbycity.
Happy landings
