For the most part I wait till there is no or little wind to fly. Well this week its been blowing 10-15 mph steady for the last week. I could not take it anymore and said the hell with it, and took the Blade and the BlueRay out to burn thru a few packs. Man, what a blast, the Blade is really light but zippy, the wind really lifts/pushes on it pretty good. It was a challenge but fun. The BlueRay was a bit more steady, not so much lift/push in the wind. On both helis you could really hear the blades ripping thru the wind as the pitch changed, was really cool. After two pack thru each, I was wore out.

Good going Flyinhigh. It's really intense at first until you learn how each bird is going to react. ;D
Here in Minnesota we get lots of wind so learnig to fly in 10-15 mph is a must. Most guys will fly in 25 plus. I'm not quite there yet. Who am I kidding. I don't ever see flying in 25mph winds myself. ;D
Happy landings

My HBFP did not like wind at all, I would not even try in 10-15 mph, heck it just about blows it over on the ground - lol

As much as I want to think I hate it, I love flying that HBFP. Never had much luck in the wind, though. At least 50% of the time I feel like I have no control over it at all. After climbing up on the roof a couple of times to pick up the big pieces, I try not to fly in anything above 10mph with the HBFP.
Now the EXI (if my hands behave) is pretty controllable up to around 15 mph for me. Makes me nervous, though. And you are right, that rudder and even the main blades sound pretty impressive cutting through that wind.

I also still love to fly the HB!! But ONLY on perfectly windless days. Zero wind for me with that thing.
With the 450's, I'll fly with up to probably 15mph winds. It seems to just make the heli bounce up and down some. FFF gets interesting in gusts.
With the 500, I'll fly that in a hurricane!!
Yep, the blade growl never stops putting a smile on my face!! Kent

Hand launch - I want to see you try that with a 450 My Blade bounces pretty good in the wind, the BlueRay is def less affected by the wind. Winds are perfect right now, just a light breeze, but feels like temp is 105! It's no fun when you start sweating so much its dripping on your TX and my thumbs get sweaty and slippery

I used to have some serious problems flying that HBFP in the wind, it it was mainly because I was only comfortable with tail-in flight at the time. Now that I can cover nose-in with more confidence, I like to take the Blade CP and HBFP out when there's 10-15 mph winds. Sometimes a gust will come by and swing it around, but I'm much better at maintaining control now. Anything much more intense and I'll stick to the 450 and above sized.
I'll tell you, once you take a blade CP or HBFP outside in the wind and then follow up with a trex 600, it feels like the 600 is the easiest thing to fly in the world.
Just got the Trex 250 finished last night, but I'm yet to take it out in the wind. I hear it does really well for its size. Great thing about the 250 and smaller helis in general is that I can be a little more crazy with em. With the 450 or bigger size, I'm EXTRA careful, because these things could kill someone if I'm not. With the Blade CP, HBFP, Trex 250 they would probably still hurt like a mother f*er if they hit me, but I don't think they'll take my head off.
