After burning through a few early morning packs the wife and I drove down to Owatonna MN for the Rotary Ring Out.
We usually go on Sat so we can catch the Spot Auto Rotation contest. It was won this year by the kid from Wisconsin. He moved up to a 600 from his 450. In the alloted 3 attempts: 1st attempt; 10". Second attempt; 5". Third attempt; 6'3". Of course, that last attempt was an inverted auto with a roll and flare just before touch down. Incredible. ;D
Happy landings

Sorry there's nothing in your area ernie. Living relatively near to a large metro area has it's advantages. One year I'm going to go for the whole 3 day event and hook up with some of the big dogs for some set up and flying tips. Happy landings

Maybe we should setup a forum to list local events. I haven't found an all-inclusive listing for these events anywhere on the net. Most that are listed are plane related...very few heli events.
Ernie, you were just a few miles from the biggie (IRCHA) in Muncie IN. Amazing attendance with 900+ registered flyers.

Having a list of events would be great.
What would be even better would be a list of clubs. A lot of guys think they're alone in the hobby locally, but I bet more than a few aren't that far from a club.
That IRCHA event is 15 times larger than the one I went to this weekend. Ernie needs a road trip. ;D

Yep, the club list idea is a good one. I'll let Dave know and try and work on that.
Maybe Ernie still has his ole blue bus. ;D

I found an AMA link with all the heli and plane clubs on it and I sent it to Sol. Some of the sites didn't open, but I think this may be our resource. We could just post link an AMA link, but it would be nice to have the club site links hosted on our site. I think I said that right. I'm not much of a 'puter guy. ;D

Yep, thanks 19k...got it. I also found a list of flying sites around the US, with no club affiliations attached, so I'll try to match them up. That may take some digging.
