Installed the 6ex tx and the 617 rx on the shuttle this week end set it up with the help of a instructor reset all pitches installed the new 401 gyro, tuned up the engine went back and double checked every thing said ok SO fired up the heli ;D running really sweet took it out on the lawn started giving it some throttle it started to come off the ground thats when it hit the fan copter goes right pitch then it went forward nose pitch then it pitched to the left and hit terra firma damage assesement so far tail boom, spindle shaft, rubber dampners, main blades, horizontal fin But guess it could be worse parts are on order now its a waiting game short vid of crash www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ih3gkBYiQFY

I have no fears about that. I'm just curious about root cause. I would rather live and learn from you than live and break my own stuff ;D I do that often enough ;D

I agree BT did you look at the video of crash what really hurts is the instructor crashed it and he is repareing it with his change but in the video it looks to be slow head speed maybe you guys can look and see if thats your guess

I can't tell the head speed from that video. It looked fairly good, but I have no feel for the sound of nitro.
An instructor crashed it? So he knows how to fly.
It looked to me like the liftoff was very slow. When first flying new fixed helis and new helis, I tend to get the heli light on the skids, feel it a bit, and then bump it quickly to several feet up.
The gyro needed to be turned down a bit, too.
Humm. I hope you get it figured out! Best, Kent

Well we checked it out and the rubber dampers we think were actually at fault one was broken and we think it allowed the rotors to come up unevenly causing a crash dont know why we didnt catch that before the flight new parts in this coming week for it then try again
