Busted up the 500 good tonight. I think the TT broke in flight. It was about 200 ft up and inverted. I couldn't get it right.Well, not completely.I did get it skids down but the main blades stalled and it just piled in. I think it was piroing so fast it caught up with the blades. At least three DS520's are stripped. I would venture a guess that the head is a wreck. The tail gear is so torn up it's actually kind of impressive.lol.... The pitch slider on the tail just came completely apart. Tail shaft is bent. The Scorpion motor even came apart somehow. Even though I hit the throttle hold before impact, the motor was wide open when I walked up to it. Funny thing is,the motor was running wide open but the pinion wasn't turning. No stripped gears ;D Since the TT was broken and so was the motor,no stress on any gears.lol... damn.Wish I had a job to pay for this wreck See the separation in the motor? It was worse but I pushed it back together and I can't get it back apart. The tail is a mess... I win again Mr. Ditch ;D

Main shaft. Feathering shaft. One linkage on the blade grip. Two gear sets for Align DS520's. Tail shaft. Tail pitch slider. Skids. Tail blade grips and spindle. Flybar. Tail blades. Horizontal fin holder. Tail boom. Torque tube.
All said and done...under $200.
Maybe the next one will be a total loss so I can get the Vibe ;D

Ouch McK, A guy on the rcg forum said that 500's did not need metal gears cause nylons don't strip on 500's. I guess he's quite wrong.
Is a torque tube breaking in flight something common?
I flew at the funfly w/ a guy who had a JR Vibe 50 (Nitro). It was a sweet machine. He had a TT redline in it. It flew really good. He was showing me the temperature regulated high end needle electronics he had and I had flashbacks to my Nitro days.
I guess you'd want the JR Vibe 500? Why the desire to make the switch from the TR500?

I just like the way the Vibes look to be honest ;D
A broken TT is very uncommon in flight. I had a punture in my tail boom and I thought it was clear but the cheapo TT I was using flexed around inside the boom and eventually cut the TT in two.

That's not an align one? Was that the Flasher TT? Yup.Flasher. I have all the Align stuff for the tail but decided to reuse the Flasher crap for a lil while. Save a couple bux here and spend a couple hundred there

Man, sorry to hear about the smackup...
I do like that shiny frame, though!
You should try a belt tail. They are way cheaper to fix and don't self destruct if you have a minor mishap. The Exi stuff for the 500 belt tail is very robust and CHEAP. Just an idea.
I still have an Align TT that I haven't flown yet. Kent

Ha, that thing is looking like my Trex-600 right now. After the wedding and honeymoon, I'm going to have to wait for the parts, so I think it's going to be a winter project fixing it up. After that, I may decide to sell it.
I'll have to take some pics and compare, but I think I just might have you beat on this one Ern. How does the canopy look? Any loss of batteries? I destroyed a 4200 mAH outrage battery that costs around $300, plus about $150 worth of other parts.

A few cracks in the canopy.I hate that too.Beautiful canopy. It's still together though.
The shrink wrap was torn off the lipo.lol.... The wrap was still velcroed to the heli but the cells flew out the bottom. They test perfect though.
This is one competition I would hate to win ;D

I just ordered all the rebuild stuff. Got it from Inethobby. Talk about service.I called them earlier today and couldn't get anyone on the line but they do have voice mail so I left a message. Now,being the patient guy that you all know me to be,I decided...screw the phone call and went online and ordered everything and clicked commit to buy. It's an ebay store.
The phone call was to make an offer on the lot of stuff instead of individually.Every part had a "Or best offer" tab.I figured it would take to long and clicked "Buy it now".
NOW ,,,,Mike calls me back.Purchase complete. I explained why I had called and he just went right ahead and emailed me a new invoice with 10% off everything and free shipping.Hmmmm.Didn't expect that.
So the 500 is getting fixed for $71 ;D ;D ;D
