Ok guys here is my question about TX's specifically 6 or 7 channel ones ... i am thinking about buying one soon. So what brand do you recomend? As this radio will be used for alot of helis later on, i am not to worried about the price. However lower is always better. But based off your experiances give me your prefered radio and some reasons why..
I am looking at Hitec, Futaba, well all of them really. Even a name i have never heard of.
The one thing i do want is a 2.4g radio .. thats about the only requist, other then must be 6 channel, am thinking about a 7 or 8 if the price is right for later on incase i do a mockup heli that can handle retractable landing gear or lights.

I've got two DX6i's. One was new and had to be sent in for the sticky pot recall. The other I bought off one of the members here after the recall was done. Since the recall repairs, both Tx's have worked flawlessly. I use one for helis and one for planes. You can get a DX6i for around $100 if you're patient.
Now, if I was to do this all over again, I'd get something with more capacity. I've been eyeing up a new plane with retracts AND flaps and my DX6i just won't cut it. Needed is a DX7 or the one that I drool over...a JR X9303. The DX7 has one more flight mode, 10 more model memories, and one more channel plus a few other niceties over the DX6i. The JR has 30 model memory, 7 point curves plus a few other goodies, but at $600, it's a tough pill to swallow for this cheap-ass Canuck.
If you are contemplating flying something that needs more than 6 channels, I would save up for at least a DX7. Around the $200 mark or just under if you look hard.
The bonus to Spektrum Tx's is the lesser price for compatible Rx's compared to Futaba. You can get nice TX's in other brands, but the Spektrum/JR DSM2 technology seems to be the most prevalent at this time. Even EFlight has adopted it.

just to throw a wrench in the gear you might look at a 9c or a 10 c futaba they are a lot of tx but there isn't any 2.4ghz they cant bind to and have enough channels to do what ever you want just my 4 cent's

I have a Futaba 6EX and love it. However, I probably would have gotten the Specktrum. As Sol said, the RX is quite a bit cheaper and there seems to be a ton of info and advise out there, and several BNF options.
