Dude! My wife got me a discovery flight for my birthday back in November and I finally cashed in on it.
Got to go for a"ride" in a Cesna 172SP. More like I got to take off, fly for half and hour and then let the pilot land her.
Best experience ever!
Starting flight school in a few weeks!

Thats great Gabe,,,,,I got my pilots license back in 1976 when I was in highschool. I've flown everything from bush planes in Alaska to F-4Es in the Air Force,,,,it's a high you never get over. I can't fly anymore,,,I can't pass an FAA Medical Physical,,,hence my addiction to this hobby. I'd trade the rest of my life for just one more day in the cockpit! DO IT!!!!!! You'll never be sorry,,it's a freedom that just can't be explained. I remember EVERY second of my first solo,,,what I was wearing,,,,every cloud in the sky,,,Sept 9th, 1976, 5:35 pm,,,1969 Cessna 150 yellow/white,, #N60032,,everything! Now,,,,where'd I put my wallet?? Hmmmmmmmm.

Ha ha ha! Oh man, that's the excitement I'm talking about!
I would love to fly a fighter jet someday. It's always been a secret little dream of mine. Although I'm not sure how to do it without joinng the airforce. Let me know if you have any ideas. As for the license, I'm ordering the ground school book on Thursday!

There's a couple of companies that have jets you can fly. Don't remember who at the moment, but if you google it you'll find them.

The FAA written exam is pretty tough,,study HARD. But wait 'til you take the FAA check ride for your license,,,talk about knees knock'n,,,,I was just 17,,,I don't know how I did it,,LOL!

Wow! It's estimated between $9-11,000 now. What a difference! My neighbor mentioned something about financial aide, so I'm hoping that goes through!

I don't remember how much they charged when I was training because I got it for free, my dad ran the airport, but I think it was in the neighborhood of $20 and hour including the instructor, plane and gas. That was in a J3 which was the aircraft of choice for new pilots back then. I recall you needed 10 hours of dual time before solo. That was a lot of money back in the 50's but it's probably not that different today considering inflation.
I'm pretty sure you should be able to get financial aid.
