Need a sonix 450 tail assembly in natural aluminum (not blue). Ka-Planes out for 2 weeks. UGH! Can't make my Pay Pal work at Dealextreme. 2 x UGH. Helpppppp!
Belt came off at altitude today and can't believe the only thing that broke was a skid. Hope that didn't use use up all my luck for the year.
Happy landings

Oops, sorry, you said natural aluminum. I haven't seen those. Sorry, Kent

Kent, thanks for the effort. When I checked Ka-Planes this AM they had the silver tail assembly in stock. Got so excited I forgot to order a new landing gear and had to do that in a second order.
Whew, thought I was going to be grounded for a couple weeks, now, I'll be back in the air on Wed...Guess I haven't used up all my luck for the year yet afterall.
Decided on the aluminum landing gear this time. It's "indestructable" according to Ka. The plastic one sure wasn't when it went into virtual free fall from about 20 ft.
BTW, although not likely with your belt system; if a thrown belt happens the belt is going to be wrapped around the tail gear and the heli is going to be spinning so fast you have no choice but to drop the throttle. It's definitely an "oh s$$t" moment.
Happy landings

Thanks ernie. I chose the one Ka-Planes recommended because they pretty much guaranteed it would solve the problem. We'll seeeeeeeeee.
I really feel kind of foolish after buying this type of belt system. It's similar to the Genesis "Quiet Drive", using a larger belt drive gear mounted under the main gear rather than the typical secondary gear running off the main to drive the belt. I've done everything imaginable to align the belts, gears and idlers. Hope it's that tail assembly replacement that's a fix.
I wonder if any of those Genesis guys are throwing belts too?
Happy landings

It's mine. I love this heli with the exception of the belt problem. Wanted something other than the run of the mill 450. Well, I got it. Hope the new sonix tail solves the problem. Funny thing is; I was flying the bejesus out of it, 3D, the works, and it never lost a belt until I had a little tail strike and that's when it all started. Changed the OEM tail assembly, belt, did everything but bring in a military grade laser to square up the boom, frame (not that anything was bent it was a "minor" tail strike) and belt alignment and she threw the belt without warning. No matter who you are, or what you do, the heli gods are always waiting to make it real. Happy landings

The tail belt fell off my Black Hawk after the fourth or fifth time spooling it up and trying a hover, you had warned me about it. Luckily I was only on the ground and just the blade tips got scuffed. That was the straw that broke the camels back though as it had other issues and sent it back to xheli. It was a shame as it seemed like a pretty nice heli with good potential. Oh well, the T-REX will help ease the pain ;D Can't wait to get my hands on the bad boy, just a couple more days...
