The 9MM EPP foam arrived last night. What should I build first? Kent's F22? Kents Yak? Kent's Delta? RCPowers Sukhoi?

Oh man, I've been dying to k ow how the RC Powers stuff works. It looks easy enough. What kind of motor and prop setup do you have for it?

Oh man, I've been dying to k ow how the RC Powers stuff works. It looks easy enough. What kind of motor and prop setup do you have for it? The RCPOWERS planes fly great. They go a little beyond the profile approach for the jets which is neat and gives you a place for your electronics. Tony's built more of them than I have, so I hope he sees this. I wouldn' build them from Depron though it breaks too easy. Use the EPP foam. I'm using the Grayson V2 power pkg. www.graysonhobby.com/catalog/graysonhobby-super-megajet-wtih-p-645.html or use the the V3 pkg. Both are hard to beat for the price. Dube, I'm going to build them all! I don't think I'll ever catch up to Kent though. So what should I build FIRST!

If I were doing it again, I would definitely build the F22 first. It is just too much fun to fly, and your power plant should make it a rocket that should also do high alpha!
The Yak flies awesome too, but it flies relatively slow. This one is great for learning to hover. I'm still working on that! I think your power on a Yak would be ultra overkill, I would think.
The delta is built from depron. I think EPP might be too flexible for this, unless you put a bunch of carbon on it. This thing is so light that it doesn't get hurt much in a crash. It's way smaller than the other two planks. Your powerplant on this would be uber rediculously fast and probably uncontrollable!
I am building an EDF, too. I won't know how well it flies until it's finished, and I've now run out of receivers.
I have the free plans for the RCPowers Extra. It looks similar to the Yak. I think they used depron, which in my opinion doesn't make sense for a 3d plank, unless you are a pro. Using EPP would work, but would require some changes to the plans for more carbon. I do like the RCPowers park jets. I would like to build some of those one of these days!
Just my 2c... Kent

Good choice 19k! I can't speak for it's flight, but it is fun to build. I am finding out (again) that I am truly retentive on this stuff. I have been working on it little-by-little and picking at everything. Love every minute of it.

Not enough to prevent flying, but my guilt was high for not opening my foam pkg that's been sitting here for 2 days. So, I unpacked the box from Grayson with the 9MM EPP. I'm used to building in 3 and 6mm Depron and this 9mm EPP foam looks huge. I printed out the tile plans for the F22 a week a go. I now need to tape them together. That will require some fierce brain power. I think I'll do that during cocktail hour to ensure that my brain is suitably fortified for the task. Edit: Well, that didn't take long and I only taped my hand to the plan once. Guess I won't be doing any cutting until tomorrow.

I have been working on it little-by-little and picking at everything. Love every minute of it. There is one big problem with an EPP built plank. You don't get to rebuild it from crash damage. Example of my last Yak flight: Hover, crash. No damage. Hover, crash. No damage. Hover, crash. No damage. Fly a few circuits and then pop into high alpha. Crash. No damage. Fly up until it's a dot in the sky. Throttle to idle and spin all the way down. Try to pull up at the last possible moment. Oops, too late. Crash. No damage. On and on like that!! I don't crash the F22 nearly as much, but it's just as tough! I am still amazed at this stuff!! Every crash makes me chuckle now, when there is zero damage! The worst damage I've had is a slight tear in the foam. A dab of hot glue or Welders and you can't even see it! We need to figure out how to build helis from EPP! Kent

BT, what power are you using in yours?

BT, what power are you using in yours? 3s 1300 mah battery with the 1850 kv motor from the LHS. I researched it (and also put my super duper glasses on to read the fine print). It is a Towerpro motor. Not my first choice, but I do like putting some money down locally every once in a while. I'm only using the 1300 because I already had a couple ordered for the Super Cub. Ironically, I will probably run 2200 mah in the Cub. Hope the 1300 isn't too much weight.

Not having to rebuild after a crash is really going to spoil me.

What prop are you going to run? Your 1300 batteries will be fine. You might need to move things around a little to get the cg good. I am running 1000ma on mine and it flies for >8 minutes. I plan on building another one of these things for the Grayson motor! I will use 1300 batteries on that one.
