So all this talk of building foamies from scratch has given me an idea. I'm thinking of building a micro Stryker. I have no idea where to start though. EPP? Depron? Power plant?

That sounds like an interesting project. Just off the top of my head I think I might opt for 6mm EPP with CF bracing for the fuse. Take a look at Kent's F22 to get and idea of where the reinforcement points are. You could use 3-6mm EPP to build the cockpit/component area and more CF for the vertical stabs and elevons.
Depron is good stuff but it doesn't take as much of an impact as EPP. EPP is less rigid and requires bracing, but it bounces almost like a rubber ball when you hit something.
I think I'd use the Grayson V2 pkg. That's a lot of power and very inexpensive. You could run a 1300 or maybe a 1500 in it depending on how small an airframe you go with.

I think the Grayson may be too big. I was thinking along the lines of the ultra micro series. Maybe 6-8 inch wingspan....maybe 12 inches at the most. I dunno yet. Gotta scale up against the P-51 UM.
It would be cool to be able to fly this thing in a small gym or in my back yard. I need to look into servos too.

Maybe 12-15", 8" is a bit too small I think for any of the components I know of. And when you start adding heavy motors and gear you end up with a rock with wings. I think I'd try the PKZ ultra micro motor first. That seems to be the choice when the motor's got to be small. Same with the servos. You might just want to take all of the ultra micro components and use them. There are guys doing that with other planes. Propping for some real speed might be a challenge too. I haven't seen anyone build a pusher jet that small. It would be really be neat though. 25mph in a small gym is blindingly fast. Even my Sukhoi seems like a rocket in a gym. In the backyard 25mph might see a little slow. ;D Keep us informed on what you find out. This is a really intriguing project. Maybe if you get it going it could be sold to Horizon. HMMMMMM... Pro wrestler turns pro aircraft designer.
