Okay, so I am tabling the F22 until I learn my a** from a . I need to practice with something more tame than that. Anyone have suggestions for a tame scratch build?

What about the Yak that Kent built? The ideal part about any EPP foamy is the lesser chance of damage in a crash, but I can't think of anything less straightforward than the Yak.

I looked at RCGroups for some easy to build/easy to fly plans, but they all look virtually the same idea. There's absolutely no aerodynamics to these foam things. Just a flat piece of foam, some kind of a hump for a canopy/fuselage and a motor attached.
Why not design your own? Could be a fun project. Just a thought.

That's actually a really good thread. I read through most of it and there is some really good info there.

Those are some great threads Sol.
Just about any of the Yak's or Edges will be a good place to start BT. They are all cheap, easy to build, easy to fly and nearly indestructable in EPP.

Perceptive, even from a distance ;D Yea, it's been a rough few days. The last neck shot I had didn't work so well. Now I'm all pumped full of cortisone with no other treatments schedule and still hurting like hell. Oh well. Can't do much about that. The crash of the F22 came right after I took the SC up. It went hard right and nose in. Not sure WTF. But I broke the prop. I packed it up after that. I'm looking at all the Yak and Edge variations, and maybe I'll put one together in the week or so. Right now I need to raid Dube's hidden Vicodin stash ;D

Yep, this can be a humbling hobby. You spend your time and money putting together a prize piece, take it out hoping the damn thing tears up the sky, crash the mother on the first flight (could be heli or plank), gather up all the pieces and walk away wondering if stamp collecting wouldn't have been a better route. Then you start all over again. But you have lots of friends, 'cause we've all been there... ...some of us without the aid of Vicodin. ;D OK, enough of that. I've been toying with the idea of getting some 3mm EPP, designing some wing spars and actually making an airfoil wing. Maybe fit it to some variation of Edge540. Too much work, maybe? Another thought is to get a cheaper radio/receiver setup for these things. No real benefit to putting in AR6100's at $50 a pop when a 4 channel setup will work nicely on a standard aileron/elevator/rudder plane.

Sol is a man of much introspection. I like the idea of building an airfoil. There are a few foamies that are manufactured that way. The corona radio systems are light and pretty cheap; if I recall. Altough, it only takes a minute to pop out a 6100 from one plane and stick it in another.

So are you talking about using the 3mm and contouring the wing? I have seen prints on something like this.
