Anyone know of a simulator that will work on a regular, run of the mill laptop?A Dell Inspiron 1525 to be exact. My gaming laptop is D.O.A. Fried mother board and screen finally quit after being dim for a couple years.

Yeah,I know. It's the video card requirements that get me.I don't even know how to tell what kind of video capabilities my pc has.

If you go to Control Panel and select System>Hardware>Device Manager, look under Display Adaptors
It will tell you what you have and then check the manufacturer's site for the info.
This is with XP, not sure what the path is in Vista, but should be similar.

Looking at the Dell specs for that lappy, it is using the Intel graphics stuff. If you got the base model, it also uses shared memory for graphics. Not too good. You might go ahead and try to run the FMS stuff. If that runs ok, then Clearview 'might' run ok.
I'm running Clearview on my lappy, but mine is higher end. 2.5ghz dual core, 4 gig ram, Nvidia 8700m graphics.
My wife's Toshiba won't run FMS at all and it's a Celeron, too. I don't know what graphics are in hers, but it's useless for much. Heck, it won't even play youtube vids very well. Your Dell is much nicer than hers, though. Kent

The quickest most practicle check for my limited computer skills was to try a complex game.I just loaded my Tiger Woods 08 and it plays fine.
Clearview should be ok then.Right?

It'll probably work fine. I have Clearview on an old machine with not much in the way of a graphics card. Seems ok on that. I could be missing out on some scenery, but that's it.

I agree with Solitaire. If your game runs fine, the Clearview should too. Kent

Thanks guys. Another quick question. I included my TX to PC cable in the sale of one of my last helis. Will my gaming joystick work until I get a cable?

I haven't tried a joystick, but Windows setup will allow for that, as far as I can tell.

I got the clearview.It works great.It froze a couple times.Nothing major.
I tell you what though. That just ain't right. My first attempt after setting up the controls flopped and crashed on the right side.
Ahhhh,it'll take off straight up.I'd forgotten. Haven't been on a sim in over a year.
Second attempt was a perfect hover and I started a tail down funnel around my position.Caught the tail on the ground and tore off the gear.Amazingly I flew it with no tail rotor for about a minute.Don't expect to see that in real life.lol.
Third attempt was pretty much just ripping it up in 3D.
I wish I could fly like that for real.At least I can get some of my muscle memory back.I'm a little rusty.
I'm trying to record some flights for youtube.I'll figure it out.
Thanks for all the input on this thread.
