I was getting quite a bit of power loss in hard banking turns. The motor would bog and you could literally see the head speed diminish. I was only running a headspeed of 2200. This heli is quite light, and I don't do any 3D. With a +10/-10 7/7 setup, swinging 335's, flips and rolls were extremely mushy because the stock motor just couldn't handle the torque. It was time for a motor change. I have an assortment of extra motors including the Outrage 1700 KV motor that came with the G5 kit. So I put that on the Mini T. I also had two very old Tenergy 2S 1100 mAh lipos. I had not used them in quite some time... I think the last time I used one was the last time I flew a HBFP. So these guys are at least a year old, if not more. They charged right up. The motor is rated up to 6S and the speed control is rated up to 4S so I said what the hell, and tried it. I had made up some Y harnesses a long time ago but wasn't using them. So I harnessed up the two 2S lipos and put them on the heli. The 3D headspeed for this heli is in the 2700-2800 range. With a 15t pinion, I'm getting a headspeed of just a little less that 2300. That was one of two pinions I had that would fit that motor. The other was a 13t which would not generate nearly enough head speed. I'm going to look for a 17t pinion to replace the 15t, but for right now this 15t will do. Hopefully, this motor will not bog through the turns. I did a standing hover test of 7 mins and used 750 mAh of the 1100 mAh available. Both batteries drained equally. With 880 being my target mAh usage I should be able to sport fly safely for another 30 to 45 seconds at least. :::EDIT::: BTW, that motor is going for $30 dollars at Heli-Direct. It's a great motor that can handle up to 6S. If I had a speed controller that could have handled 6S, that would have been the way I would have went. www.helidirect.com/erg5005-outrage-ept-1700kv-317mm-brushless-motor-p-7633.hdx

Wow, I'm surprised the headspeed is so low on those.
I'm running 3,400 with my 450, but I am learning some minor 3d. I think with that low of a headspeed, I would see some serious tail bobbing.
It would be interesting to see that design, to work well that slow. Cool. Kent

And that motor didn't get those 15C LiPo's warm at all, Dooz?

not really... a little warm, but not anything I'd think was out of the ordinary. I'll temp it tomorrow.. The only thing that got hot was the speed control, but that's always been the case with that ESC. One of my 6S batteries for my G5 is 15C and it doesn't get hot at all. Maybe if I would have drained them a little further and let them go flat. I'm not planning on keeping these as primary battery anyway. I'm going to get some 4S batteries, but for now they're working fine.
