Have you ever noticed, when you are watching videos of planks that are being flown at clubs there always seems to be the same noise in the background. Sounds like the noise of some poor sucker trying to get his slopper started and running worth a crap. I don't know how many times I've noticed that. At least when the electrics are messing up they don't spit, choke and howl ;D

At least when the electrics are messing up they don't spit, choke and howl ;D Interesting observation. I wonder if gas pilots are driven mad by the quiet of an electric motor. ;D

Nitro engines can have their 'off' days. If you don't get em right, they will die on you and then you're in trouble. Those need to be tweaked every time you fly, usually once per day.
I hear that every time I go to the club here, if anyone is running nitro!
Now gas is another story. Lots of folks here are flying larger planes with gasoline motors. 50+cc single and twins. One choke, one flip and they are running smooth as glass!
They never used to have gas motors like this. These run MUCH nicer than any weed whacker motor.
But I'm now forever electric! It's just too nice to push the throttle up and it just goes! No muss, no fuss. Kent

I have a nitro rc car but its a pain. It depends on the weather if its going to run and work right that day. Youre always constantly tuning it making sure it doesnt run to lean or to rich. Then if you have an air leak some where forget it. It will continue to run lean until you find it. Nitro used to be the way to go if you wanted to go fast but with todays brushless and lipo batteries electrics faster. I dont have a nitro airplane and will probably never buy one. One thing I do like about nitro that you cant get with electric is the sound and smell and the smoke trail it leaves behind. Sorry if I got a little off topic.

That BT started a thread with... It's an ellipsis. I just get a kick out of it. Sometimes I think the nitro guys are just making their presence known for the video. Other times it sounds kind of innocuous. Other times I get this feeling of been there done that. Makes me think of that old Cox .049. I never seemed to have a good 6 volt battery for the glow plug.

I had a nitro motor shatter the rod mid flight. Running, running, running, the oh crap! One good thing about planks, is you can usually glide them in when the engine quits. I know you can do it with a helicopter, but I am not that good.
