Maybe better hinges and as 19k mentioned in another thread, maybe some carbon rods in the elevons? I don't know if it's worth it. Attachments:

If you have not already you should check out RCFoamfighters on YouTube. They build some insanely fast EPP planes. www.youtube.com/user/rcFoamFightersThey give stuff away every month too (motors, ESCs,...) so subscribe to their channel to find out when and what you need to do. Awesome, Tony! I'll look into these guys. From first glance, they are running shaped surfaces, which I think makes good sense for speed. Thanks! Kent

i did'nt think it was going much of a race. that stryker is scary fast. that must of been a rush to have the f-22 come apart in flite. and yes the stryker just floats in when not under power.

You have a Stryker Dube too, right? Dam thing is amazing. I think I'll be dreaming about that thing tonight!
Even if you could get the F22 to fly as fast, there is almost zero chance it could ever be as smooth as the Stryker at speed.
But on the other hand, the Stryker will never be able to hover and fly slow high alpha like the F-22!
I did fly the original F22 today through three batteries. That thing flies awesomely and I would not trade it for anything! The wind came up later this afternoon and I could just hover it there in the wind. Several folks commented as to how well it flew. I love that thing!
These two are like a beer and Scotch. One is nice to sip on and the other is guzzling material! Kent

Well, I finally maidened both birds today at the Austin flying field. The lake has continued to rise, and there is not enough room to fly here any more. Floats are high on the build/buy list now. I can't use those though until I get at least one of the boats running! If you want a float plane you should look at the Polaris. It is a scratch build foamy parkjet that can fly off water, grass, or snow. It was designed by Steve Shumate who is an actual aircraft engineer for Boeing. I am currently building my second one (first one met with an untimely demise ). Here is the thread on RCGroups where you can download the plans for free. www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=922465If you decide you like it don't download the plans on the first page. There is a revised set on page 27 Post#392. Or if you don't feel like cutting it out you can get a laser cut kit from ModelAero.com. Checkout my video of the ModelAero Aquacat which is a cross between the Polaris and another of ModelAeros Planes. www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvN_se96btI

I thought the elevon might be a weak point in the design for a high speed plane. I suggested that over on Kent's build thread. Probably he didn't see it. I think that adding some CF to elevon would eliminate the flutter and you'd see it reach more of it's potential. That's what I'll be doing with mine. Or, it could be that the airflow has created a turbulence at that point that just needs to be worked out. Maybe I'll have better luck. If not I'll go to the smaller motor. Nice site Tony

I did see your elevon comments, 19k, and you were right on about that. I think these need better hinges, too, as well as your reinforcements. I will be very interested to hear how yours flies! I hope it fairs better than mine at speed.
Thanks Tony for the Polaris link. I actually had found that a few weeks back and downloaded the plans. It's a depron plane, so I hesitated to build it. Maybe I can figure out how to convert it to EPP?
I think I may work on that now... Kent

Oops, on my large post on the last page, I was thinking 6s and not 3s when I mentioned power.
The Grayson motor was drawing 23 amps on a fresh battery, so at 3s, that's about 275 watts. And the little 2730 motors draw about 120 watts. That sounds much better, too. Kent

Hi Tony: There is one EPP plane there, but it is covered with fiberglass and then packing tape. That is a lot of work! It's also 15mm thick 1.9# EPP. I'm not sure where to get that, unless you laminated something up. The rest are fan fold or Depron. But those things are screaming fast! Thanks, Kent

Oh yeah, the ones that they have free plans for are mostly Depron or foamboard but the "prototypes" that you see in many of their videos are mostly EPP.
