... and it's about time to put the helis away for 3 or 4 months. I figure I have about two to three weeks left of flying early morning and that's all. Pretty soon it will be in the 100's by 9am, 110's by mid afternoon, and I can't fly my helis in that heat. I'm going to use the time to order parts, and get my fleet in order. Disassmeble any helis that i'm "retiring" and organize my bench. I'll probably just lurk from work from time to time until October or so... then start back up then. Until then....
later, Robby

We've also had more wind this year than normal, down here in central Texas.
Hey Mckrackin, check out Austin weather. The normal temps for January and February are in the 60's. Those are our coldest months. While it can get cold at night, it is generally amazing during the day. We actually did have some snow this year, though. It was about 1/2" thick on my Jeep. It lasted for a few hours and was back up in the 50's the next day. The last time it snowed before that was 15 years ago. I remember that, as my 18 YO daughter was 3. We made about an 18" tall snowman! That's all the snow we could get. Now, we have had ice storms. We just don't get snow.
The summers can be brutal here, though, but not like Az. Kent

Austin has some nice weather, though the summers with the humidity and heat can be brutal.
I had a home in Tucson for many years. The weather is a lot better in the summer there than in Phoenix due to the 2200-2500 ft. altitude (Sometime in April is the "ice breaker" in Tucson; the first 100 degree day and then Hot through Sept/Oct.) . Even when it gets hot there is only a brief period during the day when it hits the hundreds and then it'll cool off 40-50 degrees in the afternoon and early evening during the hot months. The winter is 60-70's. And it's only 6 1/2 hrs by car to San Diego. Some people call Tucson Paradise. Maybe they haven't lived in Hawaii yet. ;D

Yup, Tampa is blazing with Humidity already. I walk out my front door at 9am and I'm sweating. By the time I walk down to my flying area, I'm drenched in my own sweat.
Its not the funnest thing to deal with, but man I love to fly!

Yeah, Tampa reminds me of Houston. It can get to be 98 degrees with 98 percent humidity. Yuck!
But Tampa is warm pretty much all the time, like here in Texas. There is one other difference that I never figured out though. You can't grow oranges and grapefruit in central Texas, but you sure can in Tampa. I wonder what the difference is? Oh, maybe I know. It freezes here every once in a great while. I don't think it ever does in Tampa. Or, it can be deadly hot (over 100) for weeks on end here. Does it ever hit 100 in Tampa?

Florida gets their freezing weather. Every few years the citrus crops get bit. The have somve very sophisticated methods for keeping the crops warm. The old method, smudge pots, have been supplemented with all kinds of blowers and heaters and dry ice (?) that actually can change the weather over the crop and keep it above freezing.
